Division B
MikeMarchant (Elamite 815-539 BCE - Allies: Babylonian) defeated Challenge1 (Lydian 687-551 BC with Greek ally): 46/10
This was a tough one for Challenge1. More by accident than design I had his Lydian's encricled by turn 7/8 and it was a long drawn out manoeuvre battle as he tried to form a large box to keep his front to my troops. The greater mobility of my chariots and cavalry ensured they were able to penetrate the many gaps in his 'line' and subject him to too many rear and flank attacks. His infantry, far superior to mine, couldn't hold out against my low quality infantry, with such pressure on their rear. The game was a lot closer than the numbers suggest, and victory wasn't really evident until close to the end.
A very enjoyable battle against a worthy opponent, with whom it was great to chat during the egagement. Many thanks, Challenge1; I look forward to our next.
Best Wishes
Mike

melm(Andalusian) beat edb1815(Rus with Bulgar ally) 44-10.
An interesting battle that both of us deployed many units of massed archers on our hill, which are close and easy for access from the starting line. My veteran spearmen charged uphill with the support of my massed Muslim archers. The arrow exchange between two hills was in my favor for I brought more massed Muslim archers than Rus. Two of Rus massed archers were simply shot to autobreak. Besides, Bulgar horse archers' early rout was another drawback for the Rus army.

Division C
markwatson360's Franks drew with lydianed's Ghaznavids 34-43
Fielding a mostly cavalry army, it started well for us as we decimated his cavalry and got 20 -0 ahead, then the Jumbo's stampeded in and I spent the last half of the game running off! I suppose 2-2 is a fair result in the end, thanks for the game lydianed.

rs2excelsior (Byzantine) beat GeneralKostas (Frankish) 63-52
I have to admit, I miscalculated in the deployment. I saw Frankish and I was expecting lancers--but I was thinking about later Frankish lists and was instead met by a mainly warband force, backed up by lancers and archers. The field was completely flat and mostly open, with some patches of rough ground and woods and a river effectively cutting off a portion of the field. My infantry was farther back than it should have been--expecting a more cavalry-heavy enemy--but I brought them forward as the Byzantine lancers crashed into the Frankish right flank. What followed was a confused melee, with both sides getting flank charges off--although quite a few were warband infantry into lancers. Most of the Byzantine infantry was seen off, although they managed to pin a few warbands long enough to flank and break them, and pursuing Byzantine cavalry made a few useful flank charges.
An overall view of the map at the end of things: GG to GeneralKostas, well fought.

SawyerK (Picts with Scots) defeated GeneralKostas (Franks and Breton) by a score of 59 to 30.
The Picts made good use of a patch of rough terrain on their right flank to establish an attack while holding a hill in the center of the map. The Franks heavy cavalry inflicted significant damage on both flanks but the greater number of Picts and the terrain allowed the battle group on the right flank to turn in to the center and reap a significant toll on the Frankish warbands. A good battle well fought.

SLancaster (Indo-Greek 175 BC-10 AD with Indian 500 BC- 319 AD allies) defeated bomber23 (Syracuse 412-281BC with Kyrenean Greek ally). 51-16.
The game was closer than the score. Main lines met and I managed to get some advantageous ground. My elephants did well and my pikes pushed back the hoplites. I got some good rallies at the end to get the win.
