Division B
edb1815 (Rus w Bulgar ally) draws with batesmotel (Khorasanian w/ Dailami ally) as night falls and time runs out. 38% - 58%
Frankly the Rus survived the last several turns by the skin of their teeth as the Khorasanian horse archer arrows rained down across the battlefield and a depleted heavy infantry unit got caught in the flank. No rallies as units were too shot up!

Thank you!
It was my first season taking part in the Digital League and I just wanted to say a thank you to all my opponents for the enjoyable matches and banter. I would especially like to say thank you to stockwellpete for the incredible amount of time you must have invested in organising and managing the whole league. Well above and beyond!
I salute you sir!

Re: Thank you!
I'd like to add my thanks to you, Pete, for yet another brilliantly run season. Your very many hours of hard work to keep us all entertained is greatly appreciated.
And to Iain, I am glad you enjoyed your first season and thanks for two great battles in the Biblical and Early Middle Ages sections.
Best Wishes
Mike

End of Season 6 round-up . . .
End of Season 6 round-up
65 players lined up for the start of Season 6, an increase of 5 over the number of entrants in the previous season. The increased numbers allowed us to run an extra division in Early Middle Ages. Notable absentees included pantherboy and ruskicanuk who have been among the main challengers in the top divisions in previous seasons. The season was also notable for the "Allies" feature being rolled out across the board after a limited trial in Season 5.
Classical Antiquity
Geffalrus was the new champion in Division A, using his trusty Antigonid army, and he managed to remain unbeaten throughout the season. harveylh came a creditable second although he was 6 points behind the winner. Most of the other players were closely bunched together with only MorkinTheFree, a newcomer to the top flight, tailed off in the automatic relegation place. In Division B three players finished with very good records. Morbio won the automatic promotion place but both herm and desertedfox achieved 7 wins, which puts them in with a chance of a discretionary promotion next season. Ulysisgrunt continued his plunge back through the divisions, after playing for two seasons in Division A, and he will be back in Division C next season. Najanaja also struggled very badly with only one win. We have a new superstar in the making with fikabo winning Division C with a complete whitewash in Division C in his first season. He did exactly the same thing in Early Middle Ages so I think a mixture of A and B divisions will be appropriate for him next season. batesmotel was second and only suffered one defeat in the campaign. In Division D newcomer Schweetness101 had a very impressive season and won 8 of his 9 matches and there was a chasing group of four players who each managed six wins each. This group included newcomers Questar17 and vakarr. The wooden spoonist this time was General Kostas.
Late Antiquity
dkalenda won Division A, suggesting to me that he is still the top player in the tournament at the moment, finishing just three points ahead of Nosy_Rat. There was an unfamiliar look to the bottom of the table with hidde occupying the automatic relegation place just two points behind harveylh. XLegione posted an impressive series of results in Division B to win automatic promotion to the top flight and there was a definite revival in fortunes for second-placed paulmcneil. General Shapur found the higher level a bit too much on his first outing and was relegated. Division C turned out to be one of the closest divisions that we have ever had with just twelve points separating top and bottom places! Najanaja won automatic promotion and it was Breogan, a former Division A champion, who finished in the relegation place despite getting three wins. MikeMarchant won automatic promotion from a closely fought Division D and poor old General Kostas collected his second wooden spoon of the season.
Early Middle Ages
Nosy_Rat won Division A with an impressive tally of eight wins and I think he can claim to be the number two player behind dkalenda at the moment. CheAhn, a relative newcomer to the FOG2DL, continued his steady improvement and harveylh finished in a creditable third place. Both Cunningcairn and NikiforosFokas struggled very badly throughout the season and it was Cunningcairn who eventually filled the automatic relegation place. In Division B Geffalrus came with a very late run to pip the long-time leader rbodleyscott to the automatic promotion place Both rbodleyscott and third-placed melm posted seven wins to give themselves a chance of discretionary promotion next season. The relegation battle was very close, involving five players, but in the end it was batesmotel who was relegated after running out of time to finish some crucial matches. As mentioned earlier, fikabo completed another whitewash in Division C, finishing an enormous thirteen points ahead of his nearest challengers. Everyone else was fairly bunched up together, except for Ulysisgrunt and then Rob123, who filled the automatic relegation place. Newcomers Questar17 and Schweetness101 dominated Division D with Questar17 taking the automatic promotion place and Schweetness101 doing well enough to have a very good chance of a discretionary promotion. bomber23 was our wooden spoonist this time after being on the wrong end of a differential draw with fellow-struggler KiFi in the last match of the season.

Fellow adjudicator ianiow has now reached demi-god status after winning Division A in this section for the third time. No-one else has won this section yet so I will accept hefty bribes to shut it down! desertedfox finished just one point behind in a really excellent first season in the top flight with sunnyboy a close third. nyczar filled the automatic relegation place this time. Despite his travails in other sections this season, Ulysisgrunt produced a storming performance in Division B to win automatic promotion and he will return to Division A action next season. markwatson360 and garymann also did well. The wooden spoonist this time was gamercb, despite him registering two victories.
Themed Event
The twelve strong field for this Chinese-oriented section contained none of the really big names and therefore it was very wide open from the outset. Snugglebunnies, hidde, nyczar and Nijis were the group winners who made their way into the semi-finals, sometimes by very narrow margins indeed. And eventually it was fellow adjudicator-hidde who won the final against Nijis, who did very well to reach the final. Thanks once again to jomni for the wonderful Silk Road mod.

From my point of view this was another excellent season. Every match was started and adjudication was kept to a minimum. There seemed to be very few problems throughout and the communication from players when I needed to know something was excellent. So thanks very much for that. It is hard to pick out any stand-out performers overall as we have a very large group of very good players now who are capable of beating each other on any given day. dkalenda and Nosy_Rat seem to be the most consistent, but I am expecting challenges from players like CheAhn, Geffalrus, harveylh, ianiow, klayeckles and Snugglebunnies to materialise in the future. I am also hopeful that pantherboy and ruskicanuk will return. We also had some excellent performances from players new to the FOG2DL. The stand out performer was fikabo who had a final record of "played eighteen, won eighteen", and there were also very good showings from Questar17 and Schweetness101. Spare a thought too for the players who struggled this time and I hope they will have better fortune in Season 7.
Thanks everyone for participating, have a Happy Xmas, and I hope to see you all again in February.
