Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
Does anyone else think we may get a Mk. II Artemis in the Armistice update?
As we all know, narratively speaking the Artemis-class has been outdated since we first got access to her. Two very prominent TOS battlestar details were also changed, the flight pod arms and the engine block, both of which found themselves more faithfully incorporated into the Minerva-class. It's my hope that if the Armistice update is to be the last, that the ship that started it all will get the chance to bow out of the Cylon War with an update that is as faithful as the Jupiter Mk. II.

Re: Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
I would be down for this. However, I think the reason for the flight pods are to make it more in line with the Jupiter class (able of having large craft stored in them). With this taken into account, the Odin class (valkyrie class) has very small openings on the front of the flight pods and larger openings on the aft, probably to make it easier for fighters to land in a rush.
The only problem I could see with this is I think it is implied in BSG 1978 that the TOS Artemis had force fields, which means the ships docked then launched from the same deck. It's established in RDM BSG that a ship lands, recovers (taken into the elevator down into the hanger deck) If we were to get a re-designed Artemis, it would have to make sense in the RDM universe (no force fields) If you think of the landing of vipers in the RDM BSG, they take up the whole landing deck to bounce off of and whatnot. If it was exactly the same of the way we see it in 1978, vipers would be slamming into the airlock on landing. While I agree it would be nice to see the TOS engine block on the Artemis, I'm really quite happy with how the Artemis is portrayed in the RDM universe. The devs did a fantastic job of converting the model from lasers and shields into the iteration we see in this game. Of course, most of this is just speculation.
EDIT - I have just watched an episode of BSG 1978, and I think if the engine block was to be changed then the connecting arms to the flight pods could be changed to the TOS format, while retaining the newish flight pods.

Re: Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
It’s interesting you mention the flight pod openings, because the Defender has a large Artemis-style opening at the forward end, and a smaller aft one like on the TOS Galactica miniature. Honestly, at a minimum, I’d want any Artemis update to be able to accommodate a support ship the size of the old Colonial Shuttle.
Speaking of the old shuttle, how cool would it be if it was used to bus around the marines and tech crews from the Defender instead of Raptors?

Good point I actually forgot about the defender, as well as the Bezerk! I suppose it makes it more reasonable to add the OG Artemis. There is so much more potential for more dlc, I do think we are in for some exciting times in Deadlock.Commander Scott wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 12:17 am It’s interesting you mention the flight pod openings, because the Defender has a large Artemis-style opening at the forward end, and a smaller aft one like on the TOS Galactica miniature. Some things I would like to see
- Colonial Shuttle
- BSG B&C battlestars
- Mk III Viper
- The story with the remaining IL models
and on a personal note, I would like to hear the O.G Cylons say something before it ends XD

Re: Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
I’d love to hear a few lines of fleet chatter from the Cylon raiders. Simple things like orders being given, and the “By Your Command” acknowledgement would be great.
I go back and forth on a few bits of Blood & Chrome to be honest. I have no problem with Valkyrie being in it for example, because she’s seen in Caprica. Although interesting note, I sent an Artemis-class Valkyrie to the Ghost Fleet from Canceron during my first playthrough, since that's where she supposedly bought the farm.
I also think the Viper Mk. III has a place alongside the Mk. II. The Mk. III for instance has typical aircraft control surfaces that the Mk. II doesn’t have, making it a more ideal choice for the atmospheric insertion on Djerba. It just needs to either be resized, or launched from the flight deck in Deadlock.
Galactica herself though... I love the additional red accents and the fact she’s covered in armour plating like Columbia. The number of gun batteries though, I’ve come to see them as overkill. And that’s before we get to them using a completely different weapons layout at the end of the movie. Oh, and the Viper stacks... you know what, if I start on those, this will end up being an essay. lol
One thing I’d like to see is a new FMV sequence featuring Clothos, since the character is supposed to be the one voiced by Tricia Helfer at the end B&C. This is because it has an organic right arm when it kills Dr. Kelly, the same one Cain just so happens to have lost in the video at the end of the Ghost Fleet Offensive. I really want them to explain what happened after we left Daidalos, since Cain’s character art shows some pretty nasty facial injuries as well. I suspect Clothos did far worse to Cain and Helena than whatever the previous reversion did to Admiral Sarkis.

Re: Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
I have come around to the idea of the Valkryie being involved in the first war due to the new lore that was released in the hero collectors Battlestar Galactica Encylopedia. However, I still believe the lore in B&C is extensively flawed in regards to Adama, MK III size, the interior look of the Galactica etc. One thing that always bothers me when viewing B&C is that end sequence with the Robo-six. In the lore that model should not exist yet. It's specifically said in the main show that when the final five arrived at the colonies they could see the war had already begun and that the Cylons had already began working on "hybrids" and that the final five created the humanoid Cylons. The hybrids were the same as the one we see in operation raptor talon so six should not be in this, maybe cavil but then again, the war should have ended. I do like the idea of six being replaced with the IL Clothos. Has it been stated anywhere that this is the case?
I 100% agree with you on the view of the Mk III, I love it and own an eaglemoss model of it, however, the craft is oversized for BSG and I have no doubt the devs will do a great job at adding it in. Fun fact, the Mk VII was inspired from the Mk VII viper from the 2003 BSG game but retained its model number. How great would it be to see some things from that game inspired into deadlock? after all, there was a frak load of vipers in that game (some great, some not so)

Re: Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
To be perfectly honest with you, Clothos and the “Six” being one and the same is a conclusion I’ve drawn based on the info dump following the S&R op, and the similarities between the character art and the CGI model used in B&C. I’m afraid I forget to mention that, as I’m out of practice when it comes to message board etiquette. I’d like to apologise for that.
I’ve also got the Hero Collector Book. As you may remember, when I saw Valkyrie in Caprica early last year, it was easy for me to accept her wartime service. I do have to say that the book gets some things wrong though, such as the Cylon War era Raider having lasers, so I’m not entirely convinced we can rely on the information in it to guide us. At this point though, I don’t think Valkyrie will be added. My gut says she would have been part of the Ghost Fleet DLC if she were part of the devs plans for season 2. It’s given me pause to consider applying the name to the Jupiter Mk. II that was with the Ghost Fleet in the DLC trailer next time I do a full play through.
I’m very glad that the Galactica CIC in Deadlock is essentially the same one as Bill Adama’s. It allows me to discard the green screen gratuity of Blood & Chrome quite easily. My personal belief is that the Deadlock version of B&C used the TV show interiors and the Viper Mk. II. An interesting note by the way: Pierre Drolet, the designer of the Viper Mk. III actually considers it to be the Viper Mk. IIB.
There are so many designs from older works that I’d love to see in Deadlock. Hell, when I first laid my eyes on Daidalos, I immediately knew we were aboard the future Ragnar Anchorage. I just had no idea we’d actually play out how she was abandoned there. Then there was Galleon and her Taipan fighters. Having them be based on Ralph McQuarrie’s concepts was a stroke of genius. Seeing the Kobolian ships realised using legacy designs was a real high point of Resurrection for me.

Re: Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
Indeed.
Re: Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
In times or war lots of weapons and equipment get in war updates like in the first world war using lots of horses to powered vehicles of the 2nd world war changes happen both in and after wars.
I was asked by a deadlock player what MK2 ships I would have and what changes would I make to the Ships so I have done this below.
So when it comes to battlestar Galactica dead lock ships there is ships that I would think would have in war updates.
I have put a list below of MK2 colonial ships. I would like to see and the changes made over the standard version so being able to use both a standard and MK2 in the game like the Jupiter and the Jupiter MK2.
if its not on my list its because I do not think it needs changing on a personal level and think with steady advances that any upgrade would be detrimental to the ship and its ability's in standard format.
MK 2 Artemis
The changes I would make from the standard to a MK2 Artemis is because there is a too bigger technology change between the standard Artemis and the Jupiter MK1 there would have been a MK2 Artemis to bridge this gap in times of war.
Changes over standard Artemis to MK2
1. Hull to 140
2.Two front battlestar artillery added to the 2 heavy front turrets of the standard Artemis
3.Four Bottom Battlestar Artillery added to the 2 Heavy turrets already on standard Artemis
4.Armour changes over the standard Artemis Rear armour +10 bringing it to 70 over standard Artemis. Top and Bottom +10 more each bringing them to 80 over standard Artemis.
No other changes made this MK2 Artemis is the bridge between Artemis and MK1 Jupiter that I think is needed.
MK 2 Minerva
changes over standard Minerva to MK2 Minerva
1. Hull 150
2. Armour change both rear and top gain +15 bringing both rear and top armour to 60 over standard Minerva no other changes made over standard Minerva.
MK 2 Defendor
Changes over standard Defendor to MK2 Defendor
1. top armour +10 bringing it to 60 over standard bottom +20 bringing it to 60 over standard.
2. Two or three Medium turrets New to Top of ship over standard defendor no other changes made over standard.
MK 2 Orion Frigate
1. Front Armour +10 bringing it to 60 over standard Orion armour
2. Rear Armour +10 bringing it to 50 over standard Orion armour
3. Left and Right Armour +15 bringing it to 45 each side over standard Orion armour
4. Top and Bottom Armour + 10 bringing it to 50 for both over standard Orion armour
5. One extra missile slot over standard Orion. The Orion had a missile system used for defence in blood and chrome.
No other Changes made over standard Orion.
MK 2 Heracles Gunship
1. Left and Right Armour +10 bringing it to 70 each side over Standard Heracles no other changes made over standard Heracles.
MK 2 Atlas
1. Top and Bottom 2 Extra Medium turrets each over standard Atlas.
2. Broadside 1 Extra Heavy turret each side over standard no other changes made over standard Atlas
MK 2 Janus Cruiser
1. I am in two minds over this because I find the Janus good in its standard format but if I did make a change it would be 2 Medium turrets top over standard Janus Cruiser no other changes made over standard Janus.
MK 2 Minotaur Gunship
1. I am in two minds with this Ship also because it is a good ship in standard format but if I was to make a change over standard it would be Top and Front armour +15 bringing them both to 75 over standard Minotaur no other changes make over standard.
MK 2 Berzerk Carrier
1. I would make this one change over standard Berzerk 1 support slot added that can only be used for Raptor or Assault Raptor only no other changes made over standard Berzerk.
Now For Cylon Revisions I call MK 2 Cylon ships a Revision or a REV 2 this is because in computer Language the Cylons would call it a REV 2 over MK 2.
REV 2 Gorgon Support
1. Hull to 80
2. Armour Left Right and Top and Bottom +5 bringing them to 50 over standard Gorgon
3. Rear Armour =15 bringing it to 45 over standard Gorgon no other changes made.
REV 2 Talon Support
1. Front and Rear armour + 30 to bring it to 50 over standard Talon no other changes made.
REV 2 Phobos Cruiser
1. Front and Bottom armour +10 bringing it to 40 over standard Phobos no other changes made.
REV 2 Cerberus Carrier
1. Armour Bottom +15 bringing it to 75 over standard Cerberus
2. 2 Extra Heavy turrets Top and Bottom no other changes made over standard Cerberus.
REV 2 Basestar Carrier
1. Bottom Armour +15 bringing it to 60 over standard Basestar.
2. 3 Extra Heavy turrets Top and Bottom over standard Basestar no other changes made.
I just want to point out that when I made these decisions I had to look at weakness of ships technology over war time and during a war would these areas be bettered or weak spots made stronger.
Thanks

Re: Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
I was sent a message asking about my ideas to do with upgrades to BSG deadlock ships. In the end I look at it this way I tried to take a logical approach to the changes made that what would happen in times of war to make something more effective.
The truth of the matter is I think I have given the Devs on Battlestar Galactica deadlock THE IN WAR UPDATES PACK that can be integrated in to all of deadlock campaign and also Anabasis and online multi play.
THE IN WAR UPDATES PACK could be a $10.00 dlc pack to make more revenue to the devs.
I have said this before but the devs could make lots of extra DLC for this game from the point of the first cylon war from the Prospectives of each ship below.
I think I could make dlc mission ideas for deadlock for at least 5 if not 10 mission dlc packs my dlc packs ideas are below.
1st dlc pack idea
From the prospective of the Jupiter Colombia what missions over the years it had been doing up to its destruction near to the end of the first war this could span 10 to 20 missions alone so 1 pack of dlc for 10 missions 2 packs of dlc for 20 missions.
Just with the one idea above I have extended BSG deadlock
2nd dlc pack idea
from the prospective of the Osiris from it being built to the missions that I did not go to plan due to damage to the ships of class we all know it was called a pocket battlestar.
We know that the Osiris had done and taken part In missions that it was not just not equipped to do the job. So the Osiris of the fleet group took heavy damage to complete the missions.
This story from the idea of scientists designing the Dradis absorbent ceramic coating for the hull to the admiralty green lighting the building of the Osiris and other ships of the same class from the prototype to the Front line scout ship and in the years before the end of the first cylon war it getting the first Batch of produced Viper MK3 to test before full role out.
This could be a 10 to 20 mission pack so 1 or 2 dlc packs
3rd dlc pack idea
From the prospective of the Valkyrie from its introduction in the early years of the first cylon war to it being the first ship to get war time Viper MK3 air group.
Just a month before the role out to the bigger Jupiter class ships and it updates up to the second cylon war.
when both President Adar and the president before him opting to update and upgrade the Valkyrie because it filled a role that a new ship design would not be cost effective or better what was already in service.
The only notable change from first to second cylon war the Valkyrie was extra armour 4 of the top mounted heavy turrets became Battlestar artillery and 2 of the 4 heavy turrets below became battlestar artillery.
So this could be 10+ missions dlc
4 dlc pack
From the Prospective of the Loki type Heavy support Cruiser that was pushed in to service to support missions where its older smaller counter part the Celestra was not equipped to do so.
The Loki type with its larger size much slower speed more heavy armoured with its 35 heavy turrets to help it fend off attack because its speed was on a par with the Atlas Carrier also had armour on a par with the atlas due to this setback.
The things I did have going for it was able to deploy 2 sets of armour drones at once and having 50% of its 81 cargo holds dedicated to armour plating for the drones 1 better than the Celestra and 4 types of munition holds with 2 supply raptors that can be used at the same time that is 2 more munition types extra over the Celestra and 1 extra supply Raptor over the Celestra.
Please note the celestra is a lot faster in speed and its drones are faster at adding plating.
So there is the missions that the Loki type class has taken in from being pushed in to service to replace the Celestra in more daunting missions up to last know use in Ghost fleet offensive but it is know that the Loki type attached to ghost fleet did survive to the end of the first cylon war its not know if there was any in service at the start of the 2nd war
so this could be 10 mission dlc pack
Then I could go on and do Cylon missions packs lots of ideas there.

More Battlestar Deadlock dlc ideas
The Cratus how the Cylon ship design came to be with it being designed by clothos a evolution in cylon ship design . How it was built and brought in to action without the Knowing of clothos that his design existed and was in service. Its use with the cylon hierarchy in command of this large evolution in cylon capital ship design.
The changes in design and use of the Raptor during the first cylon war from being Know as the flying pillbox or bus due to the way it looks. To becoming a integral part of any Battlestar groups in defending and attacking foes to it doing low level recon and marine boarding of enemy ships.
The Flattop the Large ship repair dock that was used for large ship repairs and salvaging and recycling of large ships to repurpose the materials for other use in fleets or colonies. We know that 2 of these ships survived the 2nd cylon war and travelled with the Galactica and the civilian fleet.

Re: Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
Things I would like to see in BSG deadlock in 2021
1 the correct configuration for the Pegasus with the battlestar artillery turrets in the right places and the right configuration and the 4 fixed twin mounts or the 8 holes at the front of the Pegasus firing artillery strait ahead this is the Pegasus main feature the 4 fixed twin battlestar artillery mounts with the ability to fire a salvo of 8 battlestar rounds at the target ahead from what I understand the mounts have small amount of up and down movement but no left or right movement at all.
If you are not sure of the right configuration of the Pegasus then look back in this forum topic to the pictures showing the correct configuration and location of all turrets that I posted earlier thx.

Re: Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
more changes needed
I think the modern Basestar needs 3 missiles slots but i think with it being modern it should replenishing for sure to make it better the mercury needs a large dense flack field not the small one it has now it should be big like the Jupiter and the Jupiter 2 but thick and dense.

Re: Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
A nice bit of information that I have found out on the Osiris or Orion Class Battlestar at the start of the 2nd cylon war all Orion class battlestars had been destroyed or decommissioned from service.
This had taken place some 15 to 20 years before the start of the 2nd Cylon war and the exact timing in years in not confirmed but it is know that it was between 15 and 20 years when the last active Orion Class pocket Battlestars where decommissioned, retired from service.

Re: Artemis Mk. II Anyone?
I think with the expense of ships in the campaign being so high the total fleet group points should be 1000 points more so the fleet points would go from 8000 to 9000 or even 10000 this would make game play better in the campaign and make both colonial and Cylon fleets more interesting allowing more ship diversification on both sides but keeping the 7 plus 1 support max player ship allowance the same at 7 plus 1 support ship.
