WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
Wars of the Roses, a New Team Event to start June/July.
A combination of Historical Scenarios & Skirmish Games
The current plan is for 2 Pike & Shot Historical Scenarios and 3 FoGII Medieval games using the new DLC, Rise of the Swiss.
https://www.slitherine.com/game/field-o ... -the-swiss
A FoGIIM Historical Scenario from the new DLC could also be included.
The Format of the Event will follow an Historical Timeline but not sure yet about how many Rounds.
Maybe 3 Rounds of 2 games, 1 Historical & 1 Skirmish.
Alan (ahuyton) will organise and run the Event using his well practised methods.
Players interested please post your Moniker here along with your Rose Colour.

Re: WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
Hi All,
I am interested in giving this a go. I really struggle with the War of the Roses mods in Pike and Shot so perhaps more practice with them will be good for me. As a Southerner I have no allegiance to either colour rose so consider me a mercenary I will make up the numbers on either side. Perhaps with a nod to historical events we could change sides part way through (when we had an idea who might win perhaps)!
Peter

I'll throw my rose into the ring
I shall ascribe myself the title of Gwain of Goodly Manor. (Win or Lose)
Then again... I do love a good Yorkshire pud!... either/or AlanI shall ascribe myself the title of Gwain of Goodly Manor. (Win or Lose)
Re: WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
(While we're waiting) In the spirit of the period, I've prepared an armorial bearing. (I was going to go for sheep but that wouldn't distinguish me from KiwiWarlord)
The Blazon is a quartered coat of arms featuring a mountain, sea, lion rampant (and a Dodo bird of course) with the heraldic motto avis currens nihil musci colligit Re: WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
The translation of that motto brought a smile to my face and song in my heart.
Re: WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
I would like to join the House of York, the rightful heir to the throne.
Re: WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
So here is the list of players and below the proposed games.
Lancastrians
Doyley50
PeterthePainter
Lascar
Yorkists
Kiwiwarlord
Warrior230
Gdod
Reserves
ahuyton
Games
FoGM skirmish games at 1200 points, potluck terrain
PS skirmish games are large, wide agricultural terrain
Round One - Conflict breaks out
Doyley50 v Kiwiwarlord
PeterthePainter v Warrior230
Lascar v Gdod
In this round, two games against your opponent as follows:
FoGM skirmish - Yorkist 1461-1482 v Lancastrian 1461 - 1484
PS skirmish using the WOTR module by Paul59 - Yorkist 1455 - 1482 v Lancastrian 1455 - 1485
The player who does WORST in the losing team will desert to the other team in Round Two, replacing the worst performing player there.
Round Two - Hotting up in the snows of Towton
In this round, again two games against your opponent as follows:
FoGM scenario - Towton
PS scenario - Second St Albans
The BEST performing player on the losing team will desert to the other team in Round Three, and will select the player from that team that he replaces.
Round Three - Denouement and Glory
FoGM scenario - Bosworth...
Winner takes the Crown, for the loser ignominy and untimely demise but you will be the villain in a Shakespeare play and perhaps your bones discovered in a carpark many centuries hence.

Re: WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
Alan I notice that Lascar has been given the wrong colour Rose, he requested the House of York.
Re: WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
Thanks, Brian, for pointing that out.KiwiWarlord wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 7:58 pm Alan I notice that Lascar has been given the wrong colour Rose, he requested the House of York.
Dave, do you mind continuing with the Lancastians? On the grounds that both sides were villains (as opposed to villeins) and equally as bad as each other. And that the game rules guarantee changes of camp.
Re: WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
Alan, it is fine as it is, as you say they are all royals, and therefore all bad
Re: WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
KiwiWarlord, I have set up both our games, when you are ready.
Re: WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
I'm sure I read on your email that Lancastrian's sets up the challenge Alan even though it's not duplicated on the thread?
Awaiting your challenge you Yorkist in Lancastrian clothing (I understand your reluctance...do come join us). Otherwise, I don't mind setting it up.

Re: WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
Thanks Dave...I think you've done my favourite trick on the P&S though, it's attack agricultural, rather than open battle. I've set it up for us pw=lanc
Re: WARS of the ROSES a new EVENT
The Yorkist Daily Yoodle reports that:-
Richard, 3rd Duke of York's tireless general, Gwain of Goodly Manor, has triumphed over the feckless Lancaster claimants under Lascar and established once again his rightful claim to the throne in a one-sided battle 40%-0%. The only casualty was a stable boy, Cuthbert Girdlestone, who fell from his donkey whilst trying to text his village girlfriend with quill and parchment when charging headlong into the fray. He should have known better than to "text and ride".
