Special Heros in "Switching" Units ? Does it work ?

Post by Bee1976 »

I have no actual save game to test it out, but:

If you assign Kerscher als Tank Hero to a Kv-2 does he work if you switch the KV-2 to artillery mode aswell ?

Or even more potentially OP, can you palce 1 of that named anti-air/anti tank heros (karla wührer i.e.) to a SU-152 in anti tank mode, switch it to artillery and will her rapid fire 2x still work ?

Have any1 tried this out ?

Class assigned heroes will not work out of class.
There comes a time on every project when it is time to shoot the engineer and ship the damn thing.

Just to clarify, i dont mean switching the unit by buying, i mean switching units to another mode they offer.

so Carla Wuhrer will work in an 8,8 cm Anti air in Anti air mode, but if i put that 8,8 face down in anti-tank mode i will lose the rapid fire2x from her ?

if that is correct: sad times :(

I have tested this and the short answer is "no." I don't remember which unique hero it was, but when I switched the unit to the other class, I observed that the traits did not cross over. They only worked when it was in the mode/class that the hero was designed for.

Edit: I think I remember now that it was Elsa Kloss. When you assigned her to a StuG 42, for instance, she worked when it was in ART mode. When you switched to AT mode, then range and ammo returned to the unit's normal stats. This all was some time ago.

The rapid-fire2x trait from the two AO AA/AT heroes definitely works when you put them on an AT unit like the su-122AT or the su-152 in artillery mode

(I havent played the AOs since 43 first came out, but I remember when those two heroes first became available, I tried one on the su-122AT and the difference in lethality in artillery mode was clearly apparent)

I can confirm that the AT heroes’ 2x rapid fire trait works when the unit to which they are assigned switches to artillery mode. The visual indicator disappears, but the combat log reports 2x fire. I don’t know whether the “fast learning” traits carry over as well.

I think if you select it again, these traits should show up again. This also happens to upgrading, all traits applied by heroes disappear from display after upgrading, but come back once you select the unit again.

You are correct--I am now in the second scenario after upgrading the AT hero units to SU-152s, and now all hero trait indicators appear regardless of switching mode.

Thx to all ,that answers my initial question. :D So i can assign Karla to a SU-152 and will have a nice and juicy rapidfire 2x artillery.

Ok i tested it out

I placed karla wührer in a SU-152 AntiTank gun, and even if i switch the SU-152 to artillery mode her rapid-fire trait works on attacks.

(3rd SU-152) attacks (45th SU HW Inf 43)

Main Stage

Combat range: 3

Defender cannot retaliate. Initiative calculation skipped.

(3rd SU-152) strikes:

Base Number of Shots (unsuppressed strength): 15
'Rapid Fire 2x' unit trait: 2.0x
Effective Number of Shots: 30

Base Accuracy: 50
Bonus from experience: +50
Penalty from enemy unit's experience: -8
Reduction from enemy entrenchment: 0.60x
Effective Accuracy: 55%

Base Attack rating: 20
Effective Attack: 20

Base Defense rating: 11
Effective Defense: 11

Deflect/Suppress/Kill chances: 0% / 32% / 68%

Rolls (first roll determines Hit or Miss, second roll determines Deflect, Suppress or Kill):
88(Hit) -> 73(Kill)
39(Miss)
52(Hit) -> 82(Kill)
19(Miss)
81(Hit) -> 38(Kill)
57(Hit) -> 48(Kill)
1(Miss)
10(Miss)
40(Miss)
94(Hit) -> 49(Kill)
53(Hit) -> 66(Kill)
80(Hit) -> 49(Kill)
16(Miss)
24(Miss)
24(Miss)
58(Hit) -> 65(Kill)
3(Miss)
70(Hit) -> 48(Kill)
8(Miss)
66(Hit) -> 57(Kill)
16(Miss)
40(Miss)
64(Hit) -> 98(Kill)
25(Miss)
84(Hit) -> 8(Suppress)
64(Hit) -> 45(Kill)
58(Hit) -> 22(Suppress)
71(Hit) -> 3(Suppress)
81(Hit) -> 32(Suppress)
37(Miss)
Real result: 12 killed, 4 suppressed

Prediction: 11.219984 killed, 3.224530 suppressed

Randomness: 9%
Final result will be 9% real result and 91% prediction
Final result: 11 killed, 3 suppressed
