Division A
klayeckles (kyrenean + Libyan) defeats Harveylh (arab) 61 - 46
It was a race against time, as the kyreneans jumped out to an early lead at the initial clash of spears, but as the holes opened up the arabs just kept filling them and soon were getting tactical flanks in multiple areas. As the kyrenean right completely collapsed the arabs finally stopped to catch their breath and saw all the arab bodies across the field and a rout ensued.

Division D
Macedonczyk (Indo-Greek with Kushan allies) beats grumpydaddy845(Greek) 48:2
At first I didn't know what to do when I saw numerous heavy infantry (my Army except horses and elephant was medium). My army, with the exception of the horses from both wings, started to flee into the forest on the left. The wings won their battles and suddenly the Greeks had an enemy from all sides. They had to disperse their forces and that helped me to win.

Another hard game. I had some luck with the terrain (a hill in the middle of the map on my side).
For about 9 turns both sides were looking for the weak points of the opponent. Only skirmishes fought. Then my opponent found a weak spot but luckily his infantry went too far (pursuing skirmishes). Then another luck when Pike Phalanx got double cohesion when attacking Indian close fighters(raw and attack hill but I don't think should happen).

by Geffalrus
Division A
Geffalrus (Macedonians) defeats Nosy_Rat (Romans) 61-46
Sweet jesus what a brawl that was. Our first map was something like 80% rough ground and steep hills, so we quickly agreed to a map re-roll in the hopes of something WORTHY OF MORDOR. The next one was much better - mostly flat, with a hill with rough patches on my left and small forest to the right. Both armies decided that heavy infantry would be the order of the day. Some medium foot and cavalry were purchased, but pretty much all our points went into pikes and legions. Some elephants too. I mixed mine into the infantry line to pad my numbers. Theory: elephants can resist the punishing charge of Marian Legions, and cost less than pikes. Reality: they can, but then get murdered by superior foot. Live and learn.
There were no fancy maneuvers. We marched our lines at each other and UNLEASHED HELL. At first, tragedy struck my army. A Roman cohort fragmented(!!!!!) a pike with general on impact. Fortunately, the rest of the impact phase was non-disastrous, and my pikes set about trying to poke the Romans to death. The Veteran Marian cohorts proved to be basically invincible in combat, and even my best pikes could do little more than fight them to a draw before being inevitably flanked. The "merely" superior Roman cohorts were a little easier to deal with. Granted, they only broken when completely outflanked or ground down to the autobreak threshold, so it wasn't exactly easy.
The rest of the battle was a complete mess. My elephants broke. My routed pikes rallied and came back to full health. None of the Roman units rallied, which is what really saved me. It was chaos. Soon it was clear that we were in a race to 60%, so I left most of my army behind to be devoured by veteran cohorts, and focused everything else on breaking a final thureophoroi unit to get me over the line. A flank charge by veteran pikes did them in just before the Roman cohorts could take my own thureos in the rear.
Special shout-out to the Thureophoroi units in both armies. Mine swung me back into the game by charging the Raw Roman Cohorts and breaking them a few turns later for a massive point/momentum swing. Nosy's Thureos in turn resisted direct attacks from pikes and decisively broke my own thureos in some head to head fights. Hell of a match.
Tremendously good, if stressful, game to my opponent.
Final positions of the Macedonian "victory."
