Why don't you just sign up for the Beta? I can make sure you are accepted
I signed the first moment that you requested people for the beta but I did not receive any email, just one saying. I am not sure if you started the beta or not, or you accept more people by stages.
In stages. As far as I understood, the first bunch of testers were selected from those who already participated in Alpha. Next week I expect the next bunch of beta testers added, to test the updated version that already incorporates a lot of feedback from the first group of testers.

Thanks by the info. About other matters, I have been speaking with my Russian colleague from modding and he likes what he have seen. Just he is curious about one feature, after check the game, he was not for sure if there was not space tactical combat. However, we see the game as a good additional option to play in a future.

There is a tactical combat -

Not bad. Before you watch this, I would like recomend to other people to forget any other Universe known. I say it because people usually compare things and they forget how you needed create this without to take nothing made before. I always find this point, one thing very difficult when there are a lot of things previously made for other universes.
About the tactical combat. Very impressive. I imagined how it was but.........I am curious about one graphic point. Have the units a image from each side? and is this the reason because they can rotate? Many people will be surprised when they see these units rotating and after this, they read how they are 2D. You are right, this is most a 2.5D.

Hi just watched the posted vid and I'm very excited about this game I can't wait to get my hands on a copy!!
Especially loving the tech tree and the resource systems
Couple of questions though if I may,
Is the tech tree racially specific? Is it semi random at all?
are there more resources that are unlocked by research?
Will planets eventually run dry forcing an expansion?
Does this (if so) undermine the tall empires? (Small but very teched up)
What happens to the fleet if you let the resource run dry?
Thanks in advance

Right now - not. It's not a problem to make it race-specific, except for the need to more than thousand of new items, unique for each race. So it's a budget constraint, not the technological one - it's very easy to make different techs for different races by a simple mod if not to care about graphics.

By research you unlock resources on planets that you cannot see initially.
Will planets eventually run dry forcing an expansion?
Yes, they will.

Well, developing the technology is one way to combat exhaust of resources. You start to mine more and find more deposits.
What happens to the fleet if you let the resource run dry?
Fleet starts to degrade quickly because of insufficient maintenance. Ultimately, you lose some of your ships that you cannot support.
But usually you can make a trade agreement with some of your neighbours.

Thanks for the answers, I appreciate it,
With the combat is there a way to prioritise targets? I mean I really don't want to see my incredibly slow torpedo armed warship try to engage a fighter craft!! Are these behaviours definable in anyway?

Your ships have some built-in intelligence (even if only artificial

) and some stupid behaviour is unlikely if you allow them to act by their own.
But in any rate, first of all you can just right-click on target to prioritise it for the selected group of ships.
Second, there are fine control options, including "disable missiles", "allow fighters targets by torpedoes", "allow excessive missile attack", etc, that allow to fine-tune the attack behaviour.

Not sure if it has already been asked, but can you upgrade your spaceships when you advance in technology? If this is the case, is this an automatic process or manual? Are spaceships individually upgradeable or by a design template that is bound to a class?

BlauGruen wrote:Not sure if it has already been asked, but can you upgrade your spaceships when you advance in technology?
Yes, you can

This way you can save the experience your ship gains.
The only limitation is you can only upgrade within the same class, so Corvette cannot be upgraded to Frigate, only to one more advanced Corvette.
If this is the case, is this an automatic process or manual?
This is a manual process.

Individually.

hello Ufnv,
i hope this is an appropriate place for this post.
I am very excited about this game. I have played alot of other 4X games, and from what i have seen so far, this game has a lot of aspects that i prefer over other games.
the way you have setup real time with events, the SHIP CUSTOMIZATION and tactical battles, and so many other things i have seen. Polaris sector just seems so easily "playable" and enjoyable, i cannot wait.
I have signed up for the beta, and received the email saying i will get files once the next beta is ready. But i would like to ask, seeing how excited i am, checking my email everyday for any sign of the next beta, is there anything i could do to have a better chance at being selected for the next beta??
thanks for your time, and hard work.

Hi!
Thanks for the warm words. I afraid the next beta call will be no earlier than Jan 5th when Slitherine is back from vacations, but I can make sure your are enlisted if they decide to go one more Beta round.

Is there any chance of it becoming or having DLC for multiplayer?
For leisure style MP players you can introduce BAttle Arena mode, with scenario designer.
and for other of us, those that have no problem playing MP game several weeks, please add MP.
Looks awsome, will apply for beta testing.

I can tell you a small resume. I do not like comparations but..........
-The space combat is ten thousands better....at everything.
-The research is very deep.
-The creation from your own starships with your items is better.
-It can be modded a lot better.
-This game a 4x always at real time.
These can be the differences. For me I like a lot more Polaris Sector, it is a universe full of many possibilities where Stardrive and many other space 4x games had a complete lack of them. You bought them, you finished your games and what more? nothing more because even if you could edit them, they were difficult, a painful edit from files, at this point, Polaris Sector is very easy.
Probably you will answer me how there are mods from Stardrive but........take a look, they are finished very slowly, when they are not dead. I have been modding Polaris Sector by less of a month and I can tell you how it is very easy. When it be released, I will share some video tutorials, models and more.

Hi!
I was evaluating the possibility of MP some time ago. The Battle Arena kind of MP is not a big problem, just a technical task that requires some work from me.
The DLC is not planned, however, as we do not know how the game would sell
For the MP on a strategic level, there are some problems, however, the biggest one being the instanced combat.

As a side note - for those who organically do not like star lanes, I've just added a technology that allows direct flights
So now there are three main methods of FTL travel:
1. Basic via natural star lanes
2. Advanced via artificially created star lanes (need some technology)
3. Direct hyperspace flight from any star to any star (need some technology)
Also "teleporting" is easy to implement, but I'll wait with it.

This sounds excellent! I guess the fuel consumption is calculated the same way (distance)?

Yes.
