This is a workable solution Tom, although it would be preferable to have more players if possible. By when and to whom should the lists be sent?
thanks David (B)

Draw for round 1 of Italian Wars on Sunday,

Surprisingly we have 5 entrants with French and just one other - Maximilian. Not sure what has brought this on. Used to be I was the only one who used it! It will be amusing if Maximilian cuts a swathe through the French. Best of luck Chris. Anyway here is the draw:-

Italian Wars round 1
Tom, French versus Chris, Maximillian
Paddy, French versus Ray, French
David F, French versus David B, French

See you all Sunday

Tom

Wow - surely a first! Assume we are back to the usual 3 game program?

"It will be amusing if Maximilian cuts a swathe through the French"
Well it would be slightly amusing if it cuts its way through the first army it meets. Thanks for taking one for the French team Tom!

Results of our October 10 Italian Wars event.

Excellent gaming day, all the French lists played very differently so it was far from dull.

Paddy Bray won
Tom Elsworth second
Ray Boyle third
David Fairhurst fourth
David Burrows fifth
Chris Bennett sixth.

Thanks to all for taking part and a special thanks to Dave Fairhurst who stepped in to make up the numbers and did rather well (not really a beginner of course!).

Next event is December 12th. Entries invited now. Enter with any army, any date provided it can claim a Baltic coast.

Oxford third round for this year is December 12th. Called, rather whimsically, "Northern Mists" it allows any army from any of the FOGR lists at any date provided it can claim to live by the Baltic coast.

So far I have entries from:-
David Burrows
Paddy Bray
Ray Boyles
Chris Bennett
Keith Spedding
Tom Elsworth

A good start but I could take up to 6 more entrants. The period is so broad and the figures required often so generic that everyone will likely have something they can use; German of various sorts, Dane, Polish, Russian, Swede - any date!

Entries as soon as please.

I tried late 17th century Brandenburg Prussia against Paddy the other night. He thrashed me. Atrocious dice of course but more to the point it was a dull army to use. So I am thinking of more colourful options for December 12. Any thoughts anyone?

We already have a Polish entrant but that is the only firm choice I know so far.

HI,
I'll be there as well. I'll ask Steve when I see him next.

I was going to bring Polish but if you already have one I'll reconsider.

I am planning to make a radical choice, German States 1520. Probably stupid but hopefully different from everyone else.

Looks like Early Gustavan Swedish for "Northern Mists". I'll have a job fielding any of the others.

Sorry not going to make the 12th December, I have family staying with me that weekend.

Hopefully I will make more than one round next year.

Take care all

Thanks for letting us know Don. Enjoy.

Turning to next year; any thoughts on themes anyone? Any brilliant new structural ideas? How about 25mm?

Some ideas for next year - comments please.

15 mm themes:-
Gendarmes
Arquebus
ECW
Musket

25mm - open

We could total up scores over the year to establish a Victor Ludorum.

Could do a "no horse" or an "all horse" round?

Be good to do something that would allow me to get my Buccaneer or Samurai armies out.

For the Baltic Mists round - lists to go to who and by when?

thanks

Lists to me t.elsworth@btopenworld.com - by 1st December please.

We could have a "not in Europe" round but of course samurai would be allowed in those I listed except Gendarmes and ECE and Buccaneers would be allowed in musket.
