SCW Campaign - Anyone using some Infantry as core?

Hello,
I have curiosity for knowing if any fellow players (with more experience in this campaign than me) have used some infantry as part of their core units?
From what I see, when beginning the first scenario, you can remove, for example, one artillery unit and replace it with one infantry or cavalry Spanish unit.
Or, if you has selected Killer Team as commander trait, and one of the three heroes granted has the Zero Slots trait (my current situation), you can assign him to one Artillery unit (3 slots) and then add one infantry unit as an extra.
This is going to be my second SCW Campaign (first only arrived until the third scenario - Mérida). I selected 'Panzer Commander' as initial trait, but it seems that it is not going to be useful in this specific campaign, so I am here
preparing a new campaign, with this Zero Slots hero, but I am not really sure if it is worth to add one infantry or just buy another Artillery and do not look back

The Spanish Infantry that you can buy, being an Auxiliary unit will only be available during that particular scenario only!
You'll have to buy it again in the next one and so on.
That being said, using AUX units is highly recommended in this campaign.
I usually had 3 Spanish Infantry in almost every scenario. They are super cheap at 90 prestige each.
Cavalry is more expensive but useful as well.
Remember, you can buy tanks, artillery and other units for AUX. This is especially useful in scenarios like the Battle of the Ebro.
Oh, and don't forget Spanish planes - extremely cheap at 40 prestige, but super useful!
You do have to balance how much you spend on AUX units during a scenario though.

Hi, Agarwaen
Thanks for replying! Well, I know about AUX infantry units (North African troops and then Italian Volunteers).
But, question here is that if I buy this infantry unit, it appears as CORE unit, not as an AUX unit. So, I understand that I'm going to retain this through all the campaign and on.
Maybe this is a non intended behavior (aka, bug), then?

Does the unit have the golden chevron? If so then it is a CORE unit and I think it would be a bug, at least as far as SCW campaign is concerned.
Do you have a screenshot of this?

Yes, this infantry unit has the golden chevron, indeed...
Last one in the list of Infantry units

Huh, interesting! Definitely looks like a CORE unit and a BUG

It'd be interesting to see whether this infantry unit goes with you into the next scenario.
I'd suggest reporting this in the Bugs thread here:

I played all Scw campaign, scenario after scenario, with an italian CTV Ad core unit. I dont know if It will be exported in AO 1939...

It is a bug.
There was something similar done in the Beta, I think they tried to fix it, but people are good at finding holes in the rules.

I've been able to have core Italian infantry in SCW as well. Once all the aux slots are full and you buy another infantry, it gets the chevron and goes into your core. It stays there as long as you keep it alive.

Just verified this bug by starting a new SCW campaign.
You are at 35/35 of your Core slots. You need to disband a unit or 2.
Then purchase either a Cavalry or Regulares and voila - it's a Core unit
I wonder if it's going to negatively impact your CORE when you import it into the next Axis Operation, as in the import process may not work, corrupt something etc.

I'm pretty sure it will import your core as is. Probably just copies in a saved file. I'll find out in a couple of days.

Yes, Agarwen, I will post the issue in the Bug reports, just in case.
In fact, some days ago I added several issues from my first complete run of the base campaign (well, until the final scenario in Berlin, russians smashed me and I cannot mantain all the VHs, just half of them...)

Yes, it is really easy to reproduce, just move to reserve (or disband) one Artillery (3 slots), or other combination, and there you are with a shiny new CORE Spanish infantry

Hello, GUNDOBALDO08 and wodavis1
Hope you have no problems importing your CORE force with that veteran Italian volunteers unit and that you begin AO 1939 with a shiny veteran German unit converted from them.
Finally, in my new SCW campaign, I have decided to not use this Spanish infantry unit, just in case, because it seems not the designed behaviour.

When you import from SCW to 1939, there is a faction conversion that takes place.
Because if there is no conversion... your Condor Legion faction units will not progress properly because they don't have access to normal German faction units. And they'll be planting Condor Legion flags all over Europe instead of German ones. While that might look cool, it's as wrong as putting German flags all over Spain during the Spanish Civil War, heh.
So if someone has some bugged CORE infantry from SCW... I'm imagining they will get caught in the conversion wave and just become German faction units.
