5. deeter attacks SnuggleBunnies, using the army of Aigyptos, in Syria.

Deeter defeats SnuggleBunnies 62-56

The armies met on mostly open terrain. Deeter, the Macedonian king, seeing the sufferings of the Syrian people and determined to free them from their oppressor's, advanced with cavalry on both flanks. The usurpers deployed with their left flank (which included newly mobile heavy artillery) thrown back. This area drew in most of the mounted from both armies. Here, some Egyptian camelry annoyed and helped route the enemy lancers and their general, enthusiastically pursuing them off the field and never to be seen again.

Meanwhile the opposing phalanxes closed with their respective kings engaged each other in the center. In an act of devotio, the Macedonian king fell in the fighting even as lancers routed the king of the usurpers and ended the battle. Through his sacrifice, the unfortunate Syrians were freed to become Macedonian subjects and are busily constructing a monument to their fallen savior.

3. Warg1 attacks carpenkm using the army of Gedrosia, in Karmania.

carpenkm beats warg1 62 - 51

Another tense match. Close and well fought. Initially the Karmanians thought they were in for a slaughter. On a raised plateau on the right the mainly medium foot met whilst in the middle the Karmenians sheltered in an area of enclosures. The Gedrosians skilfully outmanoeuvred the Karmanians and forced a redeployment of a large cavalry wing to support. Thanks to some luck the cav arrived just in time to turn the tide and things soon evened out. In the middle the phalanx huddled and picked arrows our of their armour. Seeing the centre was likely to collapse under the weight of arrows, the Karmanians rushed out and moved their left flank inwards to support. They did just enough to snatch victory which really could have gone either way. The Gedrosian C in C fell bravely leading a cavalry charge..

We should record our games and post them Warg - we are obviously top players! they would certainly be exciting and fascinating to watch. Well played - again i think the luck favoured me.

2. batesmotel attacks Aetius39, using the army of Baktriane. Attacker satrapy Hyrkania, defender satrapy Areia.

Aetius39 (Areia) defeats batesmotel (Baktriane) 58-29

The Baktriane middle used it's phalanxes to smash the center of the Areian defenders, but the Areians managed to push back and break the flanks, eventually helping out in the middle. GG!

Round 6 (315 BC): attack declarations

Post by kronenblatt »

Order of attack declarations (based on highest inflicted casualties in the previous round)
  1. deeter (62) Feb. 14
  2. Warg1 (51) Feb. 15
  3. Aetius39 (42) Feb. 16
  4. SnuggleBunnies (21) Feb. 17
  5. batesmotel (12) Feb. 18
  6. carpenkm (3) Feb. 19
Please note
  • Supports of other attackers (B) or defenders (C) are possible, and not only outright attacks of your own (A).
  • So now may be the time to discuss and negotiate with other players on the course they're planning, maybe agreeing on joint actions, and so on. Or maybe not...
  • Please just read up carefully on the rules (in particular the Attacks and Effects of battle outcome parts) and be aware that players may not always do what they say...
  • Attack declarations are posted in this thread.
  • Please express attack declarations in the way the following examples show:
Outright attack (A): rbodleyscott attacks kronenblatt, using the army of Gedrosia and Indian 500 BC - 319 AD allies. Attacker satrapy Babylonia, defender satrapy Mesopotamia.
Support of attacker (B): Aetius39 supports the attack of rbodleyscott upon Mesopotamia, using the army of Armenia and Georgian 331 BC - 252 AD allies. Supporting satrapy Kappadokia.
Support of defender (C): Karvon supports the defence of kronenblatt in Mesopotamia, using the army of Aigyptos and Kyrenean Greek 321-276 BC allies. Supporting satrapy Syria.
  • Date (midnight CET+1 (Pella) time) above indicates deadline, after which opportunity for you to declare attack is forfeited and the player next in line may declare his attack.
  • Once you have declared an attack, please PM the player next in line, who will then be free to declare his attack, up to his deadline, so we all don't need to wait for each player's deadline.
In case any of you have any questions (which I'm sure you have, no problems :) ), please post them in this thread in order for everyone else to see the question as well as the answer.

Round 6 (315 BC): battle resolutions

Post by kronenblatt »

Six contenders are left, before entering this round of battles. Who will thrive, who will survive, who will perish?

AGAIN: Always keep in mind and report if a C-in-C falls in battle (currently batesmotel, carpenkm, SnuggleBunnies, Warg1, and deeter have fallen, with only Aetius39 remaining)!

Battles (315 BC, round 6)
1a. deeter attacks SnuggleBunnies, using the army of Syria with Arab allies, in Mesopotamia.
1b. carpenkm supports deeter's attack upon SnuggleBunnies, using the army of Media, in Mesopotamia.
2. Warg1 attacks carpenkm, using the army of Indike, in Gedrosia.
3. Aetius39 attacks carpenkm, using the army of Hyrkania, in Parthyaia.
4. SnuggleBunnies attacks deeter using the army of Babylonia, in Thrake.
5. batesmotel attacks Aetius39, with the army of Baktriane with Skythian allies, in Sogdiane.

Setting up the battles
  • Battles are fought using the Dividing the Spoils v4 module and the armies therein.
  • The defender creates the challenge (with himself always as Side B) by February 20 at the latest and thereafter sends a PM to the attacker and makes a post in this thread.
  • Module: Dividing the Spoils v4 (click Select another module).
  • Armies:
    • The attacker uses the army that he specified in his attack declaration.
    • The defender uses the army of the defender satrapy.
  • Scenario: Custom Battle - Open Battle.
  • Force size: Large (1600 FP).
  • Map size: Wide (40x32).
  • Map type: from defender satrapy's available terrains as selected by the defender (see table below).
  • No map re-rolls are allowed.
Image

Resolving and reporting the battles
  • Players commit to concluding their battles by March 20 at the latest.
  • Any battles not concluded by then risk being resolved by adjudication.
  • The defender reports the outcome of concluded battles in this thread, specifying who won (if any), the casualties, and if any C-in-C's fell during the battle (important since it matters for when tournament will end).
    • Example: Aetius39 beat kronenblatt 48-21, with Aetius 39s C-in-C killed in battle.
