Karvon's Greeks defeated dragmio's Lucanians 41-4.

We massed our lights, closely supported by our horse, and overwhelmed and dispersed the Lucanian cavalry, light foot and a couple of supporting medium foot on the Lucanian right in and around a couple of small forests. The rest of Lucanian army retreated to a defensive position on their far left with their right anchored on a wooded edge and a village.

Our own massed heavy infantry slowly formed up and slowly but surely invested their position concentrating on their more isolated right. Our generals lead a three pronged attack along the line which disrupted and drove back the Lucanians at a couple of points, but final elimination of the last couple of scattered survivors on their far right led to the army collapse before further damage could be done.

Round 4: Post-battle administration

Post by kronenblatt »

Victorious armies
kronenblatt #1, Aetius39 #2, GeneralKostas #3, Rosedelio #5, shane #6, Giacofa93 #8, deeter #9, TheGrayMouser #11, TomoeGozen #12, SpeedyCM #15, Doyley50 #16, carpenkm #17, Dreddradish #18
=> Please PM me if you want to move into the hex of the conquered structures or defeated armies (unless already located there). (I will not move.)

Losing armies
batesmotel #10, Karvon #14
=> Please PM me if you want to reappear in any hex other than that of of your capital, and then in which hex.

Eliminated factions and armies
dragmio #13
=> You and your faction has been eliminated due to losing your capital but can resurface, if you want to, as another faction somewhere else on the map in another Town or City. Please PM me then with 3 suggested Towns or Cities.

From the rules
A player's army having:
  • lost a battle is removed from its hex and placed:
    • in the hex of an owned structure along its logistics line closest (in number of hexes) to where it lost the battle, or (failing that)
    • in a hex adjacent to its capital (farthest away from any other armies, if no instructions are given).
    • In both the cases, the army is not allowed to be placed within the ZoC of an army from another player, and if there are no available hexes to be placed in, the army is irrevocably eliminated and permanently removed from the map.
  • drawn a battle moves 2 hexes away from the armies it fought, even if it means moving into the ZoC of an army from another player.
  • won a battle either remains in its hex or (if giving explicit instructions thereto) moves into the adjacent hex previously occupied by a removed losing enemy army or into the adjacent hex of the Town or City that it just gained ownership of. If more than one army wishes to move into the same hex, the army with the lowest incurred casualties will make the move and if a tie the army with the highest inflicted casualties will make the move. If still a tie, no army will move into that hex.

A player is considered eliminated when his army has been irrevocably removed from the map and he owns no Towns and Cities at all. An eliminated player may, if he so desires and after agreement with the administrator, starting out anew in the tournament, with a new culture in a new Town or City, not owned by any other player, with his current army strength increased by 100 FP.

Round 4: Final admin

Post by kronenblatt »

Reinforcement of army strength
"A player army that has not lost a battle during the round and ends its move (including movement after drawn or won battle) within the ZoC of a structure that the player has owned throughout the round will reinforce its army strength."
  • markleslie (army #4): +16 FP due to being in the Town of Tauromenium.
  • dim30 (army #7): +16 FP due to being in the Town of Canusium.
"New" kid on the block
  • dragmio(army #13): Reappears with his army in his capital of the Greek City of Crotona. Welcome back!
  • Any additional players will either enter in the Syracusan City of Syracusae or the Italic Tribal Town of Potentia. Just so that you know. Unless you, as existing players, or they, as new, have other suggestions. :)

Round 5: Movement instructions

Post by kronenblatt »

Time has come for round 5's order giving and movement instructions and the 12 MP each of your armies have.

Please send to me through replying to my PM by Thursday April 28 (9 PM, Swedish time) at the latest, and just as a simple sequence of individual moves (e.g., 2 4 2 6 0 6), with no other symbols in between, only blanks (for easy copy-pasting by the administrator). I will not open the PMs from any of you guys until I've published my own movement instructions for army #1.

For details, please check Giving orders and Movement in the RULES.

Any questions? Please ask them in this thread, for everyone else to see question and answer.

Don't worry: we'll all still hold each other's hands to get to know and understand the rules, etc., together. This is for fun, after all! :)

Round 5: Randomised battle opponent draws

Post by kronenblatt »

In 6 of this round's 10 battles, randomised opponents need to be drawn. Results below, based on each player's army getting a random number between 0 and 1, ranking them based on that random number and thus obtaining an opponent where needed. (Redraws are made until no player's army (whether needing a random opponent or not) will be drawn itself as opponent.)

Regarding map terrain of battles

Post by kronenblatt »

Type A battles
Use the map type and terrain of the location of the army having spent the fewest MP that round (until having completed its movement), or if both armies have spent the same amount of MP that round, in falling priority order in the list below.

Type B battles
Use the map type and terrain of the location of the player army.

Farmlands = Agricultural
Desert = Desert
Hills = Hilly
Forests = Wooded
Marsh = Marshy
Mountains = Mountains
All terrain will be of the Mediterranean map type, e.g., Mediterranean Hilly.
