Re: Ever-Green League - 300 BC
Sorry, I had the Lysimachids for the TDC tournament and the Ptlolemaic and Lysimachid forces are so similar I just forgot which one I was fielding for this tournament! The results don't change, just the name of my army.

Apologies for my error!angusosborne wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 7:09 pmNice report, but according to the spreadsheet and your challenge your army was Ptolemaic. I know, all those successors look the sameSawyerK wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 2:15 pm SawyerK with the Lysimachids drew his match against dim30 and his Greek army by 46-35.
The battle began with offset positioning and it took almost 8 moves to bring the armies together. At that point, SawyerK grew impatient and made a crucial attack error that exposed his right flank. He avoided a quick defeat only by squaring the pikes on that flank and attacking on the left.
As the match progressed the Greek hoplites dispatched almost all of the Lysimachid medium foot and defeated the unsquared pikes by frontal and flank attacks. The single Greek attempt to attack a squared pike unit resulted in the routing of two hoplites and the disruption of a third so dim30 prudently spent his remaining time mopping up Lysimachid light foot and cavalry.
The score should have ended at 52 to 35 but a Lysimachid pike rallied on the very last turn before nightfall. The Lysimachids were fortunate to escape with a draw after their egregious error but at least they recognized their mistake early enough to save most of their pikes.

Sorry guys, I was busy since some days and I haven't read your challenge. So it seems that Eric was first so my ptolemaics will fight Roxolani barabarians. (Holien, it will be a pleasure to play with you my next game).

Re: Ever-Green League - 300 BC
Angus/Stephane it was a 51 - 20 win for dim30
I played badly by trying to fight the Ptoemaics on a small frontage. Well played to Stephane.

Stew101 (Macedonians) defeats Angusosborne (Seleucids).angusosborne wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 1:37 am I challenge Stew101 with Seleucids v Macedonians. The challenge has been created, with password egl300
In a brave move the Seleucids attacked a strong Macedonian position.
Both centers were hampered by terrain, a lake on the Seleucid side and a big marsh on the Macedonian side.
Both sides had options on their right flanks. The Seleucids had the numbers attacking a hill on the Macedonian left, whilst on their own left they were slowly beaten in the rough by the more numerous Macedonian mediums. The game was decided though by a Macedonian medium unit that lurked in the marsh and was able to pounce on the flanks of the Seleucid pikes.
Thanks to Angus for the game.

Re: Ever-Green League - 300 BC
For brave read dumb. A few turns in I realised I hadn't figured out what I was going to do when I got past the lake, or taken proper account of all the rough going. And there was a bastard medium foot that just sat in a one square forest chilling while I failed to figure out how to manoeuvre two phalanxes and an elephant past them.Stew101 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 9:39 pmStew101 (Macedonians) defeats Angusosborne (Seleucids).angusosborne wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 1:37 am I challenge Stew101 with Seleucids v Macedonians.
