Field of Glory II: Medieval - Rise of the Swiss is Out Now
Rise of the Swiss, the fourth DLC for Field of Glory II: Medieval, is finally out.
Field of Glory II: Medieval reaches the 1300s with a brand new DLC; it was the era in which Swiss troops started carrying long pikes, and that introduced the so called Pike formations to the battlefield, adopted in many western European countries, notably in Germany by the famous 'landsknechts'.
Field of Glory II: Medieval - Rise of the Swiss comes with 60 more army lists and 22 new units.
Relive 8 more historical scenarios covering key engagements of the period on an epic scale: Kutna Hora 1421, Towton 1461, Brunkeberg 1471, Grandson 1476, Loja 1482, Bosworth 1485, Fornovo 1495, Dornach 1499.
To celebrate the upcoming release of Rise of the Swiss, Field of glory II: Medieval and its DLCs are discounted up to 50%.
Moreover, Rise of the Swiss has now been added to the Field of Glory II: Medieval - Complete Bundle, allowing you to buy it an additional 10% discount.

Remember you need to install the new patch before you can install the new DLC.

I looked on the ad for the Rise of the Swiss but did not see any list of what all armies are being offered with the DLC? Anyplace I can find that out?
Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval - Rise of the Swiss is Out Now
From the Features tab on the Slitherine store page of the Rise of the Swiss:
-Additional coverage for the following nations and factions from the introduction of Swiss-style pike tactics or Hussite war wagons by themselves or their opponents until 1500 AD: Aragonese, Berber (Wattasid), Bohemian (Catholic), Burgundian, Castilian, Danish, English (Lancastrian, Yorkist and Tudor), Florentine, French, German (Imperial, Feudal and City armies), Granadine, Hungarian, Hussite (Taborite and Utraquist), Low Countries, Milanese, Neapolitan, Papal, Polish, Rus, Scots, Swiss, Venetian. Each of these has their own historically-based banner. (Several European nations are already covered up to 1500 AD by previous DLC).
-22 new units.
-60 more army lists allowing historically realistic armies for each of the above factions and their allies at different dates during the period, and bringing the total number of Medieval army lists to 303. In addition armies can include contingents from historical allies. This gives over three hundred thousand permutations. You will never run out of new matchups to try.

Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval - Rise of the Swiss is Out Now
Congratulations on the release of this wonderful DLC! Having a blast right now playing the Hussites campaign. Building and defending Wagenburgen is a great and exciting new feature. Excellent work on the war wagons, these are perhaps the best models in all FOG games. (The choice is difficult though. )
Thanks to the whole team!

Attacking the army of the crusaders.
Glad I don't have any appointments this weekend, the wife is not at home and there are still a few bottles of beer in the fridge.

I agree with Adebar! I've read about the Hussite war wagons here and there on the internet over the years, but this is probably the first time they've been so fully realized in a game.
Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval - Rise of the Swiss is Out Now
I hoped for War of the roses campaign with both Yorkist/Lancastrian side, similar to the HYW campaign from the previous DLC with the English/French

Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval - Rise of the Swiss is Out Now
We didn't do that because we felt the battles would be a bit repetitive. We try to pick the historically-based campaigns to give a good variety of matchups if possible.
We also try to avoid making the game too Anglocentric. The 15th century English civil wars may be of little interest to those not of British origin. As it is, we already have 2 out of the 8 Epic Battles in "Rise of the Swiss" from the Wars of the Roses (Towton & Bosworth) and the Louis XI campaign includes both Barnet and Edward IV's (historically abortive) invasion of France.
You can of course set up a Wars of the Roses campaign yourself using the Sandbox Campaign system.

Fair enough, great DLC
Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval - Rise of the Swiss is Out Now
So I take it this time there's no alternative to downloading it from the game's update tab? That option has never worked for me; I've always had to download the update from somewhere else in the website.

Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval - Rise of the Swiss is Out Now
You need to go to My Page (see top of this screen), find the FOG2 Medieval game and you will find the downloads there.
If you already have game installed, you need to download and run "Field of Glory II: Medieval Update v1.04.06". This will update the game to the latest version and give you the chance to enter any serial keys you have for DLCs. (In a drop down menu)
If you don't already have the game installed, you need to download and run "Field of Glory II: Medieval Installer
FOG2Medieval-SetupRelease-v1.04.06.zip"
The manual version on My Page is currently the previous version, but I will ask for it to be updated to the current version.
If you have further difficulties, please email support@slitherine.co.uk

Thank you for your reply. I have the Medieval game installed. I just needed the link to the latest update before purchasing and downloading the Swiss DLC. I'll follow the steps you've outlined for the update.
Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval - Rise of the Swiss is Out Now
I found the downloader from the game updates option worked for me on the 1.04.06. patch (it doesn't usually) and I was then able to install ROS DLC.
