Re: Allies Victorious discussion?
The visibility of the commander’s range depends on the color of the chosen faction, it is not recommended to take the green color as is the case in the official campaign because not visible on the grass
For red color for example, no problem:

Scheldt
There was no plan for the Germans to launch an attack with this StuG IIIG to recapture Antwerp (not defended) and mess up my supply line

AV08, Scheldt, 2/10/1944, Canadian Fighter/Tac/Strat Bomber does >19 damage
I haven't played AV yet, but must have gotten this commander from Dunkirk, as he is already in my core at start of AV.
It's typical in multi-campaigns to get another chance for certain commanders.
Possible that these objectives are sometimes hidden if the commander already exists in the player core.
No idea at moment how it is in Scheldt.

So this air Commander Oliver McDowall is either in the British army or the Canadian army, depending on the circumstances, but did he really exist?Horst wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 2:49 pmAD03, Dunkirk, 27/5/1940, Hold Ypres for 9 turnsterminator wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 10:12 am I received an unexpected Canadian Pilot Commander, there was no specific secondary objective

PS: he seems to have fought on several fronts and in different armies

Scheldt Defeat (Difficulty IV)
Deployment errors, swampy terrain, many objectives (played on a 15.6 screen) are the main reasons for this defeat.
Long & difficult mission.

Special Boat Service '44 prepare to land on Walcheren Island. They would not seem to be targeted by the coastal batteries.

Gunboat (HMS Erebus) are interesting to sneak between the islands and allow to cross troops from one island to another (Walcheren Island and North Beveland) :

The Luftwaffe is not present in this scenario. Therefore, only allied tactical or strategic bombers can be deployed.
There are five airfields in total on the map, three of which are in allied hands. It is however important to capture and secure the two enemy airfields although this is not a primary or secondary objective to be able to efficiently refuel allied aircraft :

Scheldt - 2nd try (Difficulty IV) - Victory
For the secondary objective "Liberate further Dutch areas", it is possible to cut the supply lines by ground troops and to bomb the enemy supply centers allowing to weaken the enemy forces :
I was not able to accomplish the secondary objective "Clear sea mines 0/4" because I lost one of the two support ships responsible for demining quite quickly although I still had a few turns left before the end :
Scheldt is one of the best OoB WWII scenario I played

Lorraine (Difficulty IV) - Victory
I released the war beast captured during Operation Cobra :
I made two mistakes in this scenario...
The first mistake is to have liberated Strasbourg with the only US unit I transferred in the sector allowing me to validate the primary objective but not the secondary objective (same kind of objective as for the mission in Paris "Raise the French flag on the Eiffel Tower"). German defence is not very important in the region, free French forces are enough to liberate Strasbourg :
The second error is to have captured Metz before Saarbrücken validating all primary targets and ending the scenario prematurely :

Lorraine
Event Strasbourg :
Image from liberation of Brest september 1944, a Victorola phonograph provides music to GI’s during a lull.
A photograph that strongly recalls this scene of "Saving Private Ryan":

Uh, strange, taking all primary objectives "resolves" immediately instead of scenario's end.

With Allies air superiority in this campaign, this trophy is easily unlocked (during [Allies Victorious] Crossing the Rhine) on Steam:

Nice. Buy hey, get some "bomber" commander into an US "FlyingFortress" thingy and you'll get that achievement in no time...

Re: Allies Victorious discussion?
Has anyone cleared all the sea mines in the Scheldt scenario, I cleared 3 and sent ships all the way down to Antwerp with out encountering the 4th one. Any info or screenshots would be a big help.

The sea mines are hard to reveal, you have to be cloose to see them. I lost one of the two demining boats because of the enemy coast batteries, it became impossible mission with only one boatSnake97644 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 6:02 am Has anyone cleared all the sea mines in the Scheldt scenario, I cleared 3 and sent ships all the way down to Antwerp with out encountering the 4th one. Should we first neutralize the enemy coast batteries before we clear the water ?
