I know this is probably never going to be a reality, but ...

Wouldn't a new version of AGEOD's Civil War II be great? I mean there has been no real advancement in a turn-based grand strategy game in years. Yes, there have been new games, but nothing comes close to Civil War II in this genre.

Just a few things that could be employed to make an excellent experience become even more excellent.

My greatest wish - and it's a big one - would be a FoG-like system where strategic becomes a tactical battle when forces of a certain size clash. That alone, would make the game infinitely more fun. Making grand batteries doable [like at Gettysburg, for instance] and divisions more customizable. There are quite a few small bugs in the final version of Civil War II that could be cleaned up. Maybe update the general portraits and make everything even more historical, Shorter turns, maybe?

That's just a few. I think currently there is a big void in this genre of PC games. Please?

Edit: Plus, I think that maybe all the improvements in artificial intelligence might make for a much-improved game AI.

Regarding the updated Generals portraits - at least for the Confederacy - a great resource: The Encyclopedia of Confederate Generals: The Definitive Guide to the 426 Leaders of the South's War Effort - by Samuel W. Mitcham
