I am playing a game (GS 1.06) as Allies where my opponent pulled off a successful Sea Lion (how embarassing). Anyway, I have found that when I vacated the West Greenland air base it became German controlled so I cannot land there again (but I can bomb it). I didn't think this was possible. It is as if it is one of the British airbases described in section 9.2 of the GS manual (British Air Base Control). I hope my opponent doesn't read this because I believe he is unaware that he controls this airbase (I have enough problems already). I am afraid to move out of the other North Atlantic airbases for fear they become German controlled also.

yes they all become German controlled, so much so that Allied partisans can be generated there!

not sure if you are prevented from returning to all of them though

I thought it only fair that you know I read the forum and I would be taking advantage of owning those bases if only it wasn't for the massive Russian Bear being all over me like a rash!

There's a bug that was just uncovered regarding this by Dave in one of his games. We've got a fix (v1.07 in the works) that addresses this. Also, we have a temporary patch that you can apply to existing games where this has happened and it will revert control of the Iceland and Greenland airbases back to the USA. I'll post them later this evening (after work) with details.

This patch is only necessary for games where you or your opponent have executed a successful Sea Lion and have captured certain cities in northern England and Scotland. The bug was that under these conditions the USA airbases in Greenland and Iceland if ever left unoccupied would move to German control. This above beta patch not only prevents this from happening in the first place, but for games where this bug occurred will revert control of these airbases back to the USA provided that they are NOT occupied by an axis air unit. This patch MUST be applied by both you and your opponent to work.

Before copying over any file make sure you make a backup of any file, or files, that you're replacing (i.e., copying over). To apply this patch download and unzip the file above. Then copy the game.class file over the one in "*\Commander - Europe At War\Grand Strategy Mod\game" folder (i.e., the one for the GS expansion) and NOT over the one in the "*\Commander - Europe At War\game" folder (i.e., vanilla game). This is a mistake that I personally have made more than once and will probably continue to make.
