I've been looking at some of the post-WWII wargaming options lately and while FPCRS is excellent I'd really like something less high-level. Any plans for a modern-day version of BA once you're done with BA2, guys?

yes I made a similar topic about what could be after BA2 . a cold war version would probably include Korean war ,Chinese war ,Vietnam .

I'd actually like to see a medieval version of BA with huge maps and hundreds of units per side, as well as a modern real time version instead of turn based. Both I think would have mass appeal, especially the real time version where a single battle could last for minutes or hours depending on strategy and players. A real time version version would be more frantic as in a real war in the field type scenario whereas turn based is more battle command posturing from on high.

Plus a real time version would stop cowards hiding from defeat..........especially those Yanks.

I think a Cold War version was on the radar a while back, but not sure of progress. I think one of the key issues would be needing to have a new set of mechanics for airbourne units and troops.

Realtime would be basically an entirely new game :)

Cheers

Lordz has a Cold War game based on the excellent BA engine in production, more news after we have finished Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon.

We have been working on this for quite a while now. We hope to clear some things up second half of this year.

Is there any chance of say, A Napoleonic or Revolutionary War BA? I've always wanted to fight a line battle! With some Calvary!

I considered this as a future plan idea to work with Slith on but feel that that period would not work out well for BA. The problem is that so much new coding would have to be done that it would be pretty tricky to work out.

For the typical battalion level game BA would not work. Maybe as a skirmisher type game ... which has grown in popularity I am noticing with the Napoleonic miniatures folks.

Concur, Old Warrior. Do you think it could be done bathtubbing the scale up to 100m and Platoon/section level?
