In this version, only seems to work locally - convert a plain into a mountain and vice versa.
In SMAC, this affected surrounding tiles, so by raising a coastline tile, you could ultimately
convert the adjacent sea tile to a land tile. Obviously, this would require keeping track of
the depth of the sea tiles, which SMAC did and Pandora doesn't.
Similarly, by lowering a sea tile adjacent to a shoreline, using a sea former, you could sink
enemy farms, etc.
At this stage of game development, the only thing raising or lowering does is change mineral
output, as far as I can tell.
Unfortunately, as has been noted elsewhere, if the recent activity of this forum is reflective
of the life of the game, it doesn't seem we can anticipate much more development.

Its still a bate things can change, althrugh i dont really see why would they want to add everything from smac.
As for development, this is small team its not EA, and i doubt that spamming on forum is a way game development. Mostly some guy just hid them in the basment of some bunker so they can program in peace

Besides game development is not easy its not like one guy will touch the keyboard, and in a secound you got new feature, no its not like in movies twhere got matrix on the screen and push randome buttons very fast and end up with new bug free version of software, that dont even need testing.
It mostly looks like that :

lol. I totally understand the feeling of that image. Been there.
I'll admit that it would be interesting to be able to form land bridges so that your transports aren't vulnerable at 1 power (and other reasons too). I also feel like it doesn't make or break the game.

Hi guys, you'll be able to convert between land and water tiles once the amphibious former is done.

Way to go.
Request: allow the amphibious former to be used as a weapon by submerging someone else's coastal land.
even without drowning a city, it would drastically change resource collection.

I'm not sure if I agree with that. The human player is much more likely to use that ability better than the AI, making it an exploit.

Or vice versa. I've seen how the AI can really overdo it with destroying enhancements... and I'm thinking, "when they finally take all my territory, they won't want it anymore! lol." Then again, that's with enhancements. Converting water or land would take much longer than 1 turn so it would be pretty easy to defend against compared to enhancement destruction.
