War in the East gives me following error:
Warinrus application has stopped working

The 1st computer ran program perfectly ...Intel Pentium ran Win98.
Does War in the East Allow only 1 computer install/run only.
Do I need to uninstall from the Win98 computer 1st?
This computer died...threw it away.

Bought new computer with following configuration:
Intel I3
4 GB memory
1 TB HD
256 MB Video memory
Installation went perfectly.
Ran War in the East icon from desktop came up with following error:
Warinrus application has stopped working

How have you installed the game?

Installation went perfectly. After I entered serial number (found on install disk) took about 5 min to install.
Clicked GARY GRIGSBY's War in the East (Game Menu) icon the installation provided on desktop & wham

Providing detailed installation attempt:
Put War in the East CD Matrix games sent me into DVD drive
Up came WELCOME screen briefly telling me to shut down any programs ... Nothing is open
2 buttons available either NEXT or CLOSE.....I chose next
Next screen is USER INFORMATION
I entered my name as appears on the CD & left Company blank
3 buttons available...BACK or NEXT or CANCEL.....I chose next
Next screen is license agreement
I clicked I AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT
3 buttons available. BACK or NEXT or CANCEL .....I chose next
Next screen is SERIAL NUMBER, I entered # as it appears on the CD
4 numbers - 4 numbers - 4numbers - 4 numbers
There are 3 buttons. BACK or NEXT or CANCEL, I chose next
INSTALLATION FOLDER screen comes up
Program chose C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East
3 buttons available BACK or NEXT or CANCEL, I chose next
SHORTCUT FOLDER screen
Program chose Gary Grigsby's War in the East
Program chose Install shortcuts for current user only
3 buttons available BACK or NEXT or CANCEL, I chose next
Last screen READY TO INSTALL
Confirms my choices on previous screen
I chose next button & away it goes
Takes about 5 min
When completed, screen says installation is finished
I clicked FINISH button

Last I clicked the Gary Grigsby's War in the East icon to launch program & Gary Grigsby's War in the East
Screen comes up with the options:
PLAY GARY GRIGSBY'S War in the East or
GAME MANUAL
EDITOR MANUAL
TUTORIAL MANUAL
CHECK FOR UPDATE
I chose PLAY GARY GRIGSBY'S War in the East & wham

What Windows version are you running?

Windows 7 Professional

Try the following:
Open the folder where you've installed the game. Locate and select a file named autorun.exe. Press the right mouse button and select Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab. Tick the option Run this program as an administrator. Click on Apply and Ok. Double click on autorun.exe for running the game.

I did as you recommended:
I tried changing War in the East AUTORUN.EXE file to tick the run as administrator option
Then click APPLY then click OK
Ran the AUTORUN.EXE
Warinrus application has stopped working error

One final note, I don't have Internet access. Would that have anything to do with the error?

The issue is not related with the absence of Internet.
Please try the following:
Open the game's installation folder. Find a subfolder named Dat and open it. Rename the subfolder name video to _video.
Run the game and check if the issue persists.

Renamed sub folder called video to _video
Ran the game and no change

Open the game installation folder and double click on WarInTheEast.exe. Do you recefvei the same error message?

Yes
I tried both with subfolder video & _video
Both give the same error

The crash is always before seeing the video intros, right?

I found the problem.
You were right - the problem occurred before videos were played.
It works fine now.

My issue is obviously unique
I just setup Windows 7 on Intel I3 Lenovo desktop
Have been using Windows 7 drivers (video)
Once I installed Lenovo video driver, wala...no more
