Terrific game I lost

I just finished a terrific full campaign game with our favorite podcast ["I've Been Diced"] host, Tom Grant. I played the Axis, and ultimately suffered the fate of all too many greedy Nazis and got cut off going for the big win over the rainbow, errr, Meuse. Tom got me with a near miraculous counterattack, when an American infantry division paired with a 30th Corps Brit Armoured Div first crossed the Meuse and vaporized a Pz Division sucking dry fuel tanks, then followed up next turn by forcing two full or nearly so Pz divs to retreat, thereby cutting off Pz across the Meuse before it could score. Geez, there followed a series of head-to-head battles over several turns, but I couldn't reestablish supply, and eventually I ground my Pzs to nothing. I was on the verge of victory for several turns, several times crossing the automatic victory threshold, only to have Tom just edge me back before the stroke of doom. Irony was, had I just let the isolated Pz die and turtled instead, Axis victory easy peasy. But its not in our evil nature to abandon our minions, and there is a certain nobility dying for a cause most foul. Kudos to Tom! The only attack I ever saw as miraculous as the one that got me here was in a solitaire game I pulled out of the shute when my solitary airborne division vaporized a full strength Pz divsion in a desperate last chance attack. As Casey Stengal once said "you can do that, but sometimes it don't always work". BTW, if you haven't heard it, here is a link to Tom's interview with Eric re Shenandoah, conducted lifetimes ago during BotB's early development.
