Hi Everyone,

The time has come to start Round 1 of the Pocket Tournament.
Below you will find the match-ups. Here's the drill:
1. Each match-up will send Game Center invites to each other.
2. The Player on the left invites the player on the right to two matches of Race to the Meuse, one as each side.
3. Once a match is complete, the winner posts a screenshot of the end of game below along with who won. The loser will post to confirm.
4. All matches must be completed by November 3rd.
5. Any questions or concerns, please contact brad(at)shenandoah-studio.com
6. The full rules can be found here.

Here are the match-ups:

I hope to see you results below soon!

Round 1 results to report:

spacerumsfeld defeats gregorit 4 points to 1 with a victory as Germans (reached Meuse at Ouffet) and a draw as Allies (Germans captured Bastogne but did not reach Meuse).
Screens posted below. Thanks to gregorit for his customary extremely skilled play.

If no one objects, it might be useful to put people's full names in that chart as well, because once you've added them to Game Center, you have to find them via their full name to invite the player to the match.

Which may be difficult if you have a fair number of people on your list.

In the Quarter to Three leagues we use first name and last initial, and since Gamecenter sorts on first name for some reason, this seems to be an adequate compromise between utility and privacy.

The names, if really needed, could be attached in a pdf in the emails sent from the umpires.
Or in a shared and write protected file in google drive or other cloud services.
I know the NSA will read it anyway, but there's no need to post our names in a public forum.

Hi Everyone,

That is a good suggestion and I will mark it down for the future.

As it was not a requirement at the start, I will request it this next round and see who is willing to offer up that information.

Thanks,
Brad

Hi Everyone,

There has been some confusion about finding the GC names once added. To alleviate this I have found many of the first names and last initials of the people in the tournament.

This is not enough information to be identified but will help your opponent narrow you down on their friend list.

Thanks,
Brad

First round esparver73 vs keimlink: 6-0
esparver73 win as German (3-0)
esparver73 win as Allies (3-0)

As the Germans esparver73 reached Ouffet without conquering it but it could trace a supply line and resist the Allied counterattacks.
As the Germans keimlink managed to conquer Huy but then I cut his supply line in Werbomont and resisted his counterattacks.
In neither play the Germans conquered Bastogne.

Edit: wrote Allies for German in last sentence.

Ralpher 6 - tcarter 0

Ralpher won as Germans by pushing to the Huy and holds Werbemont as the Allies, cutting off Axis supplies to the Meuse. (Photos too big to attach). Good game by tcarter and a bit of bad luck with the number of turns for him in each match.

Lost my first battle to Joseph. He played an excellent defense. The second match is started.

Dugrim (Allies) 3 vs tsnouffer (Axis) 0.

With a solid defense (and some luck with the hit rate) I stopped the Axis advance and kept Bastogne.

Image

We started the second round, with me as Axis.

EDIT:
Second round finished

Dugrim (Axis) 3 vs tsnouffer (Allies) 0

Image

With a pincer maneuver, and a lucky retreat of the 99 Inf to Monschau and not Verviers, I was able to conquer Bastogne, defending the southern flank, and reach the meuse conquering Verviers.

Jarling74 vs Blackfire1929 6-0
i.e, Jarling74 wins as axis and as allies

Couldn't upload the pictures, but if that is necessary I will of course make an effort to get it done. Or maybe Blackfire1929 could just comfirm the results.
