Assistant Producer - Strategy Games

Posted: Jul 20, 2020

As an Assistant Producer at Slitherine, you will have the opportunity to work with a range of teams on a varied roster of internal and external strategy game projects, helping to ensure their success and maintaining the quality that they have become known for. You will have the support of producers and senior producers and the opportunity to mentor you and help you progress your career.

Slitherine specialise in strategy and wargames and also work with the defence industry to provide simulation and modelling software. The Assistant Producer is part of a team that is involved in the oversight of all internal projects as well as managing external projects, ensuring that all projects are planned, budgeted, tracked and any risks to delivering the projects on time are flagged.

The producer team helps the development team by dealing with their impediments, helping them to focus on and achieve the project goals and pull in all of the different stakeholders involved in the project and make sure that the right people are involved in the project at the right time.

With support from more senior Producers you will be responsible for:

  • QA and testing on the games to ensure Slitherine has a clear understanding of the state of the game and any issues that need to be addressed.
  • Managing external beta testers through the forums and collating their feedback for the development team, with clear and actionable reports.
  • Supporting the Producer or Senior Producer in whatever way is needed to ensure the project stays on track and meets the desired quality level.
  • Proof reading in game text.
  • Managing localisation, collecting the text for translation from the development team and dealing with external localisation resources to deliver localised text on time.
  • Championing the game internally.

  • No prior experience required. Would suit a graduate or somone trying to break in to the games industry.
  • A good fit within the studio environment, being friendly, approachable and with a professional work ethic.
  • An interest in learning project management skills and modern project management methodologies and practices.
  • Proactive and driven without need for supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • A love of and up-to-date knowledge of strategy or wargames.

Salary: Based on experience but ~£18k-£25k.

Location: Epsom, Surrey, UK.
