looking for new BJR games!

I can play either the current BJR or the "beta" version. Either side is fine.

Please be in touch if you'd like to play: jackkeefer66@gmail.com.

It is somewhat unrealistic, but at least it forces the axis to keep away from the coast or risk losing units. If that were not the case, it might be too easy to just blow through the French left every time. I know that in my PBEM games, that's the only thing that keeps me from using the sea to guard...

A lot of things that are not associated with WW1 were used even in 1914, like airplanes (for spotting as well as bombing).

I do agree that this engine could make a serviceable WW1 game.

Yes, ships allow the player to go into a deficit. One can do the same thing by repairing minor nation troops like Romania.

It seems to me that when a unit is forced to retreat, but has no hex available, it should be destroyed (as it was in PG and other games) or at least take double losses.

The fact that the unit can just sit there with no penalty is silly.

I have played hours and hours of PBEM now and there really is no strategy that is sure to work, because your opponent can lay waste the best of plans in an instant.

That's what I like about the game; there is a nice ebb and flow and victory is never sure.

Agreed. At this point even the Allies can just crush any neutral country and there are no political ramifications. Imagine if the USA had just walked into Portugal in then invaded Spain in the war... It would have been a politcal disaster. But in the game, you can do it happily!

Some PBEM ideas for the Allies: When playing as the Allies, be prepared to defend Russia as far back as Perm. Good players will get there very fast and if most of your units aren't there, you will lose. A good place to land in 1942-43 is Portugal. From there go straight to Spain. Eventually he may k...

The weather situation is a problem, definitely. As far as I can tell, air is never limited by weather, which is just crazy.

They don't even use that much oil per turn. Air, armor and naval are the true oil hogs imo.

Re: Where are all the online players??

I take it there are very few people up for a TCP/IP game? This is such an awesome game and a shame there isnt a bigger community. Suggestion is to rename this threas to Multiplayer Contact List or something like that. At first glance it just seems to be a guide/advice and not a list of players. I t...

Being mostly interested in russian front I am in the early stages of producing a larger scale map covering europe from the urals to france and finland to southern italy. the scale will be about 22 miles per hex which is the best you can do if you include the important bits of russia. It does give y...

I think oil consumption in CEAW is set up pretty well. If someone wants to run all over the map with German panzers, they can turn oil off.

PG 1&2 were great for what they were, but the scale always seemed off to me. And so much of those games was just so unrealistic... They didn't even really have a supply system in the PG games.
