What will happen to Pike and Shot? I guess this one is being handled by Richard / Byzantine Games so different developers.

Business as usual. Slitherine are still publishing games, but they are moving their in-house development team to give additional support to their development partners. And that support was already really good, so this is great news for us developers.

But if the in house dev team was producing BA and P&S and now they'll be doing support, doesn't that mean this game development is done for now? I feel like I am missing something.
Re: Battle Academy ends!!! What will happen to P&S?
I think what you are missing is that Slitherine don't develop P&S, they just publish it.
The relationship between a publisher and a developer is like the relationship between a record company and a band. Slitherine have just turned their in-house musicians into in-house recording engineers... to stretch the metaphor up to (and perhaps beyond) its breaking point!

Ah, I see. For some reason I had been under the impression that these games were developed in house. Thanks so much for the clarification!

Pike and Shot is developed by Byzantine Games and published by Slitherine.
As I say, business as usual.

I assume that means that you will have more control over the development since you are the sole developer. Can you customise the game engine?rbodleyscott wrote:Pike and Shot is developed by Byzantine Games and published by Slitherine.

We will be migrating to Slitherine's forthcoming new engine which is much more flexible yet is backward compatible.w_michael wrote:I assume that means that you will have more control over the development since you are the sole developer. 64 bit for iOS compatability? OS X version (at present quite a few games in the web shop have a "Mac" link but no OS X version as yet)?rbodleyscott wrote:We will be migrating to Slitherine's forthcoming new engine which is much more flexible yet is backward compatible.

Currently the new engine spec remains 32-bit.TimW wrote:64 bit for iOS compatability? P&S is great. Will the engine cover other ages too in the future? (eg napoleonic or medieval?)

Re: Battle Academy ends!!! What will happen to P&S?
thats great. I am really looking forward to this. Maybe one wish I have: sometimes it seems that I have not enough control over the units especially when they break and there is chain reaction. Of course thats what acutally happens to a general of this age, but I am a control and not so a simulation freak. So giving more control to player in future iterations of the game would be great.
Re: Battle Academy ends!!! What will happen to P&S?
I think once they are routing... they are routing. The trick is to position them so they rout in the least problematical way should they break. It's a pain when the plan does not come to fruition, but the upside is the enemy is just as vulnerable to the meandering rout.
