Tech Support - How to report issues

Post by zakblood »

If you've found a bug, or want to report an issue with the game, we'd love to have these items to help us understand and fix things:

- A clear description of the issue. What were you doing, what happened when the issue occurred. Did the Unreal crash reporter appear and did you send it?

- A Save File from when the issue occurs. These can be found either from inside the Cog menu in the game launcher or typically inside Documents\My Games\Panzer Corps 2\Saves.

- Any log files that the game has created. These can be found either from the Cog menu in the game launcher or typically inside Documents\My Games\Panzer Corps 2\Logs

- A screenshot or video of the issue would be even better!

Please post as much data as you can in your post in here or get in touch with us via

support@slitherine.co.uk
(you can send us files this way as well)

Thanks!

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

once the report has been made, just zip the file then attach it to your post as it's a Txt file which is then not permitted to attach to the forum, where as a zip file is.

We had this problem during the open beta, and it was traced down to f secure software. Here is one of reports we had back then:

"Found a solution for the 0000065432... it was f secure. Disable deepguard and the game starts. "
just one of many poor antivirus programs, which needs to be altered to let another game run, like i've said before, check your AV logs before posting, as if you run a 3rd party poor AV, 9 out of 10 times, installing and running the game as admin, sorts these sort of issues out, same as running steam and the game as admin.

poor AV programs, eg game unfriendly bit defender, avast, f secure etc etc

manually adding a exception to a AV works, disabling your AV doesn't always and is never recommended!!!

Tessellation Mode and turn off,
Enhances the detail of objects by adjusting the number of polygons used for rendering. Limiting the level of Tessellation can provide higher FPS in games that use high levels of tessellation

Troubleshooting

Panzer Corps 2 is played by many people, and we see a lot of repeating issues with the game, which have common solutions. I will collect all such solutions in this topic. If you have an issue, it is recommended to search for a solution here first. This might be the fastest way to resolve you issues.

If you have a problem with the game which is not described below, then try the following common suggestions which often help.

- Make sure that your video card drivers are up to date.

- Check the integrity of game files. In Steam client: right click on Panzer Corps 2 in the Library -> Properties... -> LOCAL FILES tab -> VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES...

- Delete game's settings folder:
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\PanzerCorps2

- Delete game's cache folder:
Documents/My Games/Panzer Corps 2/Cache

- Uninstall and reinstall the game

---------------------------------------------
Game does not start

I can see the launcher, but when I click PLAY, nothing happens, or an error about vcruntime140_1.dll appears. In most cases, this is related to some prerequisites missing or not installed properly. Try the following solutions:

1. Download and install VC redist package:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0pnbgnhk46oay ... 4.exe?dl=0

2. Download and install Unreal's 4.24 prerequisites package:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/xp2xqozundm67 ... 4.exe?dl=0

3. Manually download vcruntime140_1.dll from:
https://www.dll-files.com/vcruntime140_1.dll.html
And then place it in the game's root folder (Steam\steamapps\common\Panzer Corps 2)

4. In case the game's options got messed up and prevent the game from starting, delete this folder:
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\PanzerCorps2

---------------------------------------

Starting a new scenario or loading a save hangs the game

Sometimes you can see in Task Manager how the process eats up more and more memory. In most cases, the solution is to manually delete this folder:

Documents/My Games/Panzer Corps 2/Cache

---------------------------------------------------

Saves are not working

The game itself runs normally, but neither manual saves nor autosaves work. Saved games folder is missing.

Usually these issues are related to Windows Defender. In particular, the following setting could cause the problem: Controlled Folder Access. Simple solution is to turn it off. But you can also fine-tune the settings: "Protected Folders" (should not include the folder where saves are stored - Documents/My Games/Panzer Corps 2/Saves) or "Allow an app through Controlled folder access".

---------------------------------------------------

applications load error 3:00000065432 or messages like it, please check your AV/firewall suite logs

If you get this error, most likely it is related to F Secure software. To solve it, disable DeepGuard.

---------------------------------------------------

GPU is running at 100% all the time

Running the game at 100% GPU load can lead to random crashes, overheating and even shutting down the PC. Even if the game itself is stable, reducing the load on your video card can be a good idea. Most controls which can help with this are located in Options -> Video.

The most efficient methods to reduce the load on the GPU are:

- Target FPS rate. Tick the checkbox and adjust the slider to the minimum level which is still comfortable to play.

- Tessellation level. Use the lowest setting which is still acceptable for you. The most drastic effect from this setting is on minor rivers, so check how they look when you tweak this setting.

- Shadows Quality. Once again, use the minimum setting which still looks acceptable.

- Resolution. If other options don't help, reducing your screen resolution to the minimum comfortable level can also be a good idea.

------------------------------------------------

Steam achievements do not unlock

First things to try are: login out of Steam and back, close/reopen Steam client, reboot the PC, check that you are not in offline mode. It makes sense to save the game at a point where you are about to get an achievement (e. g. before the last move to complete a puzzle), and try to load the game an get the achievement after you try any of these solutions.

Also note that many achievements trigger at the end of the scenario, including achievements like "Elite Infantry/Tank/etc.".
