M8 Greyhound ready for download

Post by tim1966 »

The Greyhound is now up and running. I've added it to all the US Normandy battles. I couldn't remove any other unit so the Americans now have an extra unit. I'm no expert on Greyhounds so if I've got the data wrong please let me know.

Its an 8.5MB download - just unzip to My Games/BBCBA/CAMPAIGNS

Thanks for making a very moddable game and everyone who helped out -seems to me like Flames of War type game on the computer.

Looks great! Can't wait to use it. Any idea what you're going to work on next? We should build a list for you :P

There's a bunch of terrain type features I wouldn't mind seeing, like trenches, maybe minefields, bunch of other stuff.

Great job once again.

Thanks for the kind comments - it was a lot of fun making it.

As for whats next - well I think the game needs barbed wire, trenches, saps, shell holes, mud, (anyone who has seen my website will see where this is going... ). Barbed wire and trenches 'should' be easier - minefields won't even need a model. A tile texture and scripting should do that I think - I'll leave that to someone else.

The next thing with be a LRDPG Chevrolet actually and then perhaps some 1940 stuff and then who knows maybe WW1. I have a committment to some other work as well as my day job but a fair amount of this stuff will be kitbashing (I have already made the models and it just needs tidying up and putting in the right format).

I noticed that it was Tim of 'The Dugout' yesterday. I played your Great War mod for CC3 a few years back, I would certainly be interested to see something similar in BBCBA. (I was Platoon_Big_Ed back then)

Ooh, I know. How about a Kettenkrad

for the Germans or a Kubelwagen

to mirror the US' new jeep?

and YES, we absolutely need barbed wire! And crater tiles!

As far as mines, it could be done one of several ways: you could have area denial minefields that show up on the map and discourage movement through those tiles (random chance of detonating a mine), visually represented by warning signs or minefield signs sticking out of the ground, or the field could be tied to a faction (maybe even placeable by the engineer units!) so that only the side that the field 'belongs' to can see the field.
