Plane could not refuel next to airfield.

Post by Xerkis »

My plane could not refuel even though it was in one of the adjacent hexes to an airfield that I controlled. There was an enemy ground unit in that same hex as my plane – so I suppose that enemy unit was preventing my refueling.

This sort of makes sense that it would work like this – but I just wanted to check to see if it was by design or not.

If the tank of the airplane was red it could be refueled only if directly over the airfield! check if this was the case!

Enemy units next to the airfield prevent own planes from resupply.

Do you mean just from the hex that the enemy is in - or - any of the hexes around the airfield?

Around the airfield. But the enemy unit must be next to your airplane.

Like I said above – this makes sense; just never came across it or thought about it before.

Thanks

if the tank is red doesn't it mean that fuel is zero and the plane cannot move anymore - how then it can move even one hex to be over the airfield?

On another note - what are the rules for refuelling on an aircraf carrier? does a plane needs to be directly over it or adjacent hex would work as well?

airplanes can only be refueled directly over aircraft carrier
unless they are strat bombers those can only be refueled at airports

You get less resupply if there are enemy units in contact - reduced by 1/3 less for each unit in contact which means that you can't resupply at all if there are three enemy in contact. Weather (rain, snow, sandstorm) also affects ground unit resupply, but I don't know if these affect aircraft resupply.

Also, these three weather conditions and cloud mean that ground units can't see aircraft so don't count aircraft in contact (ie 2 tanks + 1 plane in cloud counts as two units in contact). I'd guess that as the aircraft refuel on the ground they would know about the ground units, but might not spot any aerial ones.
