Allies Victorious discussion?

Am I missing the thread for the latest release? I've just finished playing through. I must be getting too old to be competent ... I found a lot of the scenarios really tough to meet the victory conditions --- D-Day comes to mind. I did like the layout for D-Day, but thought the appearance of panzers...

Re: Favourite DLC

The original campaigns, since they actually have naval combat ... This is exactly my view -- this is why I really like campaigns that incorporate land/air/sea -- the Sevastopol scenarios with small boats were great in this regard in the "Red" series. The opening scenario of Kriegsmarine e...

Re: Revolution / Civil War

Russian revolution could be incredibly interesting, especially if possible to link to the existing Soviet campaign. The Civil War is out of the question, I think, mainly due to the need to keep tight formations to use the weapons of the period (closer to the Napoleonic era than to World War One).

[UI][Specialization path not available][8.4.4]

Playing Blitzkrieg, between the Yugoslavia and Greece scenarios, tried to upgrade to "Magnetron Radar" in specializations. Clicking on the box will not bring up the "Acquire" button (reproduced this by reloading twice). Clicking on anything else first (even a specialization you c...

First play through I didn't have this problem. Then I had it regardless of restarting. Now it's fixed just fine with latest upgrade. Thanks!

Re: Feel the Wheel of Steel: Red Steel Review and Discuss

This is the pinnacle of the series for me. I've really been enjoying it, albeit I'm a feeble player so I cheat in order to survive. I've noticed quite a few minor bugs. I looked on the technical support forum, but couldn't locate the Report bugs thread, if there is one. One thing I've noticed is tha...

Re: Petition for Orde

I think the picture looks remarkably good and does reflect how he might look at the time. Just be thankful he's wearing clothes (had the awkward habit at times of greeting people at home in the buff -- a military genius but quite definitely in the eccentric English mold).

Re: Color photos of WWII

And here are the originals. (I'll stop doing this from now on, terminator. I don't want to be a nuisance. :) ) Note the plural "originals." Apparently there are two black and white versions of this photo floating around. My guess is that some authority wanted a more attractive view, so th...

Re: complexity?

PzC1 is definitely overwhelmed by the other two. It also has some ridiculous ideas (field artillery seriously damaging battle cruisers, etc.). PzC2 I've just started playing and stopped after seeing once you capture an airfield, the planes based there "die." Hmm. Don't understand that at a...

Re: Panzerkrieg: One man's "Here's how" for this weekend

Aha -- that is helpful. This is also a headache. Every time I get a DLC it seems I have to reinstall every one of them, so I'm balking at this step. I searched the forums and could not find the answer for this, though -- I downloaded via Matrix and got my key, then when I go to "register" ...

Re: Burma Road so far...

Two questions: Quit India scenario -- you are supposed to "herd" the protesters -- just how do you do that? I found if I let a unit stand still next to a worker it will be attacked by that worker unit. Also, when I found Gandhi he was in an unreachable area that could not be surrounded. Is...

Re: Kriegsmarine - Thumbs Down

2. BB/BC Main Gun separation and cool down. Again this fails, you should not have to choose between firing the main battery and secondary batteries. They each historically had their own directors and could engage separate targets. This gets further absurd when you factor in that you cannot fire you...

Re: Impressed and Request

Agree with this and also -- don't know if this is new with the latest update -- when one gets a victory screen (or defeat screen!) in the end it covers all the objectives accomplished and cannot be moved -- pretty important to see what you achieved and what you haven't. Also, still not addressed, ro...

Re: Erik's Campaigns

These "Panzer Corps" scenarios are great fun! There are quite a few times when "triggers" seem to fail -- is it by design, for example, if you take a town and it gets retaken you "fail" the objective? Nonetheless I really love long campaigns and these have been highly e...

Re: Fall Weiss+Weserübung+Fall Gelb= Blitzkrieg 1939-40

Dumb question -- how to install? I get a zipped folder -- I know all of it goes in OOB somehow, but without an installer not sure where. Thanks in advance.

I also got this problem when I got the latest patch. When I hovered over them the icons said Try out or purchase (something like that). Luckily I'd saved the install files and reinstalled and then they worked fine. Strange.

Re: What happened to Seabees in Allies campaign?

I just got the newest patch, too. I just so happened to be starting Guadalcanal. You're right -- there are no "Seabees." But there are "engineers" with the same characteristics. I guess somehow the name got changed. But they can lay mines, build bridges, and etc.

Re: US Marines install

I fixed my problem. I bought a new computer. I saved the download files I got through Slitherine and reinstalled and am now happily progressing through the Marines campaign, with nary a crash. The game was too much for my aging computer, apparently.
