Gates of Troy also adds some more diplomatic options, some more buildings, and some more units, especially generals and heros which are a very nice addition. It also adds the Troy scenerio where you can build the Trojan Horse (if you get far enough up the research tree). Overall, I agree with Possum...

up to January 42 in my first try and on a few occassions I moved a unit then forgot to attack. davetheroad: Your comment raised some questions in my mind concerning the game. 1) Can you move a unit, deselect it and move other units, then subsequently return to the first unit and move that unit furt...

Borsook wrote: Ok, so another idea: You can undo x number (2 perhaps?) pf moves per turn provided they did not spot anything. Great idea Borsook! It would solve the problem of errant mouse clicks, thereby removing a potential source of frustration, while having almost no potential as an exploit. Per...

How about the simplest and the one that has been used 100 times before - you can undo your move but if the unit has spotted any enemy units then the option is greyed-out? You would still "know" nothing was there, which is by extension as useful as knowing something is there though I stron...

For the record after many patches SC2 AI is one of the best I've seen in a game of this type.
Borsook:

Thank you for the information. Since Strategic Command 1 is a lot of fun, perhaps I will try Strategic Command 2 while I wait for Commander-Europe at War.

I copied the downloaded mod/crete folder into my Gates of Troy folder on the machine where I previously was having problems with it, and now it's working on that machine also. Apparently it was something about the download or unzip on that particular computer. Thank you again for your assiatance.

Possum: Thank you for the information. I have Spartan installed on installed on both the machines where I have Gates of Troy installed, since I like the scenerios from Spartan. It's good to know that the discrepency in messsages does not represent any problem with how the mod is running. It's a fine...

Wyrun: I tried downloading the mod onto another computer where I also had Gates of Troy installed. With a small bit of fiddling, it's now working. Interestingly, the blurb in the lefthand window of the "New Game" selection screen is different from what is described in the readme, but the m...

Wyrun: Thank you for your reply. I created a mod\Crete folder in the Gates of Troy folder. When I run the game I get the little window that offers me the option of loading the Crete mod, but I am not able to actually get the mod to run. All I get is the regular, unmodded, game. I have tried unzippin...

I just downloaded this mod and unzipped it to my Gates of Troy directory. It appears to have unzipped (the readme is present in the Gates of Troy directory, as are several other files that show as having been created today), but it doesn't seem to be showing up when I run the game. Is there an insta...

Are there any benefits or obligations connected with this alliance, or is it just a way of indicating that I am very friendly with my ally? Thank you for any ...

Please allow Saved Games in the Demo

It is my opinion that when you do the demo for Commander-Europe at War you should follow the model you used on Chariots of War where, although you have a limited number of turns, you can save the game. Then when you reach the end of the demo you can immediately pay for the game, activate it and cont...

Old Forum

Apparently there was a previous Spartan / Gates of Troy forum that was displaced by the current one, as evidenced by the AAR's that other users have resurrected from it. I suspect that the older forum also had lots of good discussion in it. Does anyone know where to find the old forum, and how to ac...

Unfortunately, my theory was incorrect, I still can't get this thread still to print fully . My apologies if I've annoyed anyone. If anyone knows of a way to get a "printible" version of threads on this forum, please let me know. Thank you.

This is more a bump than a reply. I am having problems printing the AAR's on this forum, and it could be that there has to be a reply in order for it to print completely, so this is a test. Note though that this is a good AAR, and so well worth bumping. :) :)

We are not planning any stacking. We think it is just too fiddly. Conversely, for me, the lack of stacking is something that tends to make the game more fiddly, not less. This is mostly based on my experience with Strategic Command, where I find it annoying to have to attack with one unit, then mov...

Why not allow also a figure representing ???size??? as a multiplier (which, by sheer coincidence can be interpreted with numbers of divisions in the corps ). E.g. in case of a size 3 the whole figures mentioned above will be multiplied by 3). Like that it is possible to produce weak and strong corp...
