Re: GC Barbarossa to Berlin

You will probably be annoyed at me for suggesting it, but perhaps if prestige is a concern it is time to consider if the decisive victory is worth that prestige? Quite a few missions the normal victory is just as good anyway! Personally, I think the 1945 decisive are more fun and flexible than the ...

Re: GC Barbarossa to Berlin

Once you get to 3 or 4*, the +2 HA experience bonus starts to give AT an edge. For me, the biggest risk to Elefants is multiple infantry attacks stripping ammo. Maintaining artillery backing will make for a very tough unit. Do you have a particular arty backup or just whatever is nearby? I have qui...

Re: GC Barbarossa to Berlin

Vilna A DV but the final reckoning after bringing damaged units back up to strength and restoring OS leaves me with 30254 prestige at deployment for Warsaw, almost 4000 down. My liking for taking reinforcements during scenarios really caught up with me here. Whether I can claw any of that back at W...

Re: GC Barbarossa to Berlin

Vilna is proving interesting. There have been points where I thought the Russians would encircle my units and it would be a disaster but tactical withdrawals have kept all my units alive so far. It is a big map and you cannot form continuous defensive positions. At turn 19 the position in the north ...

Good luck. Vilna was one of my favourite scenarios, it's just all round fun. :D
Yes, I am enjoying it. It seems to be going pretty well so far (turn 10).

Re: A few things I still don't understand in Panzer Corps

HI there. I just discovered Panzer Corps a couple months ago. I was a huge fan of Panzer General back in the 90's and this game really captures everything I loved about that game. Great job and I can't wait to see what the devs do for Panzer Corps 2. I've spent a lot of time reading posts here and ...

Re: GC Barbarossa to Berlin

Minsk 44 Took me a while to finish this one. Real life has been taking over for the last few days. This was the inevitable point where my run of unbroken DV's stretching back to Poland in 39 came to an end. I was not able to take the most distant objective in the NE of the map in the time so only g...

Re: Need some help on hero attributes

What are ur opinions on hero’s for German mountain infantry and German engineers. And tanks and anti tanks And if I read caps correctly, +6 attack and +6 deffence is a bit over this 81% cap? Gebirgs - As with most infantry the most useful is movement. The trick with gebirgs is to always end their m...

Re: Need some help on hero attributes

Is initiative any good for bombers? Ask cause of this hero I got has +1 attack and +6 initiative Helmut Lent is actually very useful. The main benefit of initiative is air to air (higher initiative shoots first). Keep Lent in fighter bombers (Me110 series, Me410 and FW190G) and he is generally able...

Re: Favorite advanced tips?

Some good tips here. I was always a fan of air traps from PG2 days, sometimes could string a chain of 3 of them :D Noticed the AI in this game loves to target certain units, like Panzerflams or Pioneers. Loved learning the hidden mechanics in PC, learned a lot from Braccada, the game is much deeper...

Re: Favorite advanced tips?

Not wishing to start an argument with anyone but having played the Allied Corps campaign as the British several times I would stress several issues about the British units. Tanks are, ultimately, the British strength. The Churchill/Firefly/ Comet upgrade path gives them the best tanks of any Allied ...

Re: Favorite advanced tips?

The problem with using the LRDG Chevy trucks as your infantry is that they do not upgrade to anything better, unlike a normal infantry unit which will upgrade to the 43 pattern unit in due course. The 43 pattern infantry have a much higher hard attack so are much more effective at engaging enemy tan...

Re: GC Barbarossa to Berlin

I remember Babruysk and it was a glorious day for AA units. Was better to consider using fighters in a more defensive role from that point on, keeping them behind/over friendly territory and trying to mop up anything that comes over your own units whilst staying out of Soviet AA range. They just bl...

Re: GC Barbarossa to Berlin

Babruysk Had to restart this one. Initially I set up to be aggressive as I thought I could roll over the Soviets. However I was wrong. They are starting to get the good stuff (T34/85's and IS's) in numbers now and all +3 str so Panthers are starting to struggle. Restarting in a deeper defensive pos...

Re: Nebelwerfer Question

I'm currently playing East on standard Field Marshal. I have one Nebelwerfer 30 which has a +1 range hero. The only reason I upgraded to that unit was because of the hero. That makes the unit much more useful. I would not upgrade a unit with only range 2 as I feel they have limited use. As you are s...

Re: GC Barbarossa to Berlin

Mogilev I disbanded some units, mostly older air and 3 PzIII's, bringing me up to 33549 pp with 70 core units plus 7 SE. There are still a few more I expect to drop but I am now fairly happy I will have enough prestige. Held Mogilev and the northern and southern crossings, the Russians obligingly p...

Is it possible to defeat the Russians at the end of the game? If so what do you need
Yes, Take the path that leads to the Epilogue scenario and score the DV's where necessary. Simple (not).

Re: Grand Campaign; Learning to use a diverse force.

Congratulations. Well done. I feel very encouraged about seeing my own campaign through to the end. Yes, there is something of an issue in that there is at any given point, one unit which is clearly better than anything else in that category. Most of the German units (and indeed many of those of oth...

Re: GC Barbarossa to Berlin

Poltava Poltava was indeed fun. I was quite aggressive and it is pretty straightforward. I had a look at the map after getting a DV on turn 17 and the hordes of Russian units around 3 edges of the map look scary but most enemy units never move. I could have finished a couple of turns earlier but wi...
