I'm in favour of adopting kronenblatt's idea that a draw (say 1-1) results in a victory for the more numerous side.
It would make supporting a defender or an attacker more attractive as your support would have more chance to matters.

Edit : misread the rules, I changed my opponent satrapy at stake from Arakhosia to Areia.

When a supported attack is won by the attackers, the original attacker decide to who the conquered sattrapy is given to. So if you plan to support an attack but have to do your declaration before your ally, you have to attack first and tell him to support you, after what you can give him the provinc...
