Re: Lexington - who else didn't upgrade?
I've got the original. Unless the new one has more command points, then there's no real difference as far as I'm concerned. In a hot/heavy game I've pretty much never had the opportunity to get the carrier into a useful shooting position. But I'll comment more as I get further into the campaign. I'm...

Re: Killl last aircraft on carrier deck doesnt work
Yep, I've killed all eight, and the achievement does not work. I've now played the scenario about six times. Using the cheat commands for seeing everything, I can see all the aircraft, and I've scanned the entire map at the start of every turn before reloading, so I would be very confident that I've...

Re: Sonar - not reliable?
If a sub does not more or attack, it cannot be detected by sonar that turn. Yeah, true in theory, but it doesn't actually work. A more exact description would be that it cannot be 'uncovered' by sonar, but it can sure as heck be attacked if you can find it another way. In the instance I quoted abov...

Sonar - not reliable?
So, my carrier has been sneak attacked by a submarine. Being the careful type of guy that I am, I have two destroyers nearby, who proceed to ping and locate the sub. Unfortunately I don't kill it this turn. Next turn I ping again with both - darn sub has moved away. OR HAS IT? Nope, it is right ther...

Re: Repair question
Same price from what I've seen. I checked it on a couple of units way early, but haven't really looked since then. Another question would be whether using a repair ship is cheaper, more expensive or the same too?
Hopefully its all the same. I hate having to game the system for a few extra bucks.

Re: Killl last aircraft on carrier deck doesnt work
Yeah, I thought of that, but it would be incredibly unlikely. I killed every single aircraft that came onto my view at any point, except this one damn Zero that ran back to the carrier when I got it down to a few points of health. For it to be a withdrawing aircraft, the game would have had to have ...

Killl last aircraft on carrier deck doesnt work
Playing CoralSeaUSA I've got one last Japanese carrier with an aircraft on its deck that doesn't register as killed when I blow up the carrier. And the bugger won't launch, since the carrier either shoots, or repairs in its turn, which I guess prevents the aircraft from launching. Either that, or th...

Re: Submarines: Too Annoying?
Yep, Japanese subs have range three torpedoes. So, looks like you are going to need to position carefully if you want to catch them
A prime use for damaged destroyers is to act as the ASW screen while your full HP destroyers go do some damage elsewhere.

Re: Air recon units and more
I've been playing around with floatplanes versus fighting planes. I've found that unless I have less than three spare air command points, that in every situation I'd prefer the combat plane. The only real advantage to the float planes is the lack of need to refuel, whereas the disadvantage of not be...

Re: Retreating across rivers
Can't remember if terrain affect it, but there is a general efficiency penalty for retreating. It is especially high if the unit is forced to retreat 2 hexes (basically representing a rout). Thanks Adherbal, it makes sense, it is a sort of "abandon all heavy equipments and fly" that expla...

Japanese Java Mission end conditions
Just beat the Java mission as the Japanese. I killed the Allied fleet in around turn eighteen, but then I have to wait another ten turns for the game timer to end.
Shouldn't the mission end as soon as all the Allied ships are dead? The remaining turns are a little pointless I reckon.

Retreating across rivers
There seems to be a problem with the retreat rules and rivers. Under normal movement rules, you move onto a river using a whole turn, and then off using a whole turn. I've now seen a whole bunch of examples where I attack a unit on one side of a river, and they retreat right across to the other side...

iirc the quality of the road makes a difference. Dirt roads only reduce the fatigue. Hard roads eliminate it.

Is there any possibility of advance standing in the queue for beta testers of your previous titles? I worked on the ipad Panzer Corps testing and provided a series of detailed feedback inputs. I would love to help out with Warhammer too (being so tragically inclined towards these sorts of games, and...

Re: How to switch Torpedo Bombers from torpedoes to bombs?
You can switch them in deployment, but only if they are pre-deployed units. You cannot switch a unit that you buy and deploy. Not sure why this is so. Take the Pearl Harbour mission. I can switch the mode of the pre-deployed Torpedo bombers. But if I buy a new one and deploy it, then the switch butt...

Re: which infantry do you prefer (pre-1943)
El_Jairo, I understand where you are coming from. Based on the limited experience I have, and I will say I dont play at super-difficult settings either, I found that the Pioneere's low initiative just led them to being bashed around to the point where I am always having to repair them which costs pr...

Re: Halftracks or Trucks?
No transports is almost as viable as trucks unless you are playing a map with a great road network. I have about 6-8 3-move infantry that I use pretty much always, and a few truck mounted guys that never seem to get deployed unless the map looks long and paved. The small increase in prestige is okay...

Re: which infantry do you prefer (pre-1943)
My most common Inf choice in a scenario is Fallschirmjaeger. Four of them. No transport. Cheap as hell, so easy to replace, great initiative too. Just make sure you don't park them in the open. Once they have decent experience, they dont take a lot of losses in most terrain, so even having just one ...
