It has a lot of the feel, to me at least, of CEaW-GS.

Nothing Like a Visit to my "Childhood" Neighborhood.
To my old team members and opponents, I know it's been a while. I just wanted to check-in and say hi to you all (if anyone still follows). Like a ghost-town here ... so many fond memories of mod development (BJR & GS), games and AARs. I retired 6-months ago, back in early March so all the restri...

GSv4.00 USSR Partisans
Is it me or does it seem that the number of partisans being generated for the Soviet Union is getting a bit out of hand?

Re: GS v4.0 paratrooper issues
Is there a problem that we're really trying to fix here? In the 1000's of games played since we've added airborne units, how many games have airborne units dropping directly on cities been a problem? Dropping on capitals? The closest I've come is a game where I dropped adjacent to London and took th...

Re: GS v4.0 paratrooper issues
Anzio landings came to mind as a sample that capitals were not garrisoned that strongly but it was to keep the front line fed with units what mainly mattered. Germans, poised at stopping the Allies in the mountains around Cassino, strongly reinforced that front with units coming from Rome, thus lea...

Re: GS v4.0 paratrooper issues
Personally, I don't see anything broken with airborne units dropping on empty city hexes. If you prohibit that then you're saying that an unoccupied city is stronger than one occupied by a 2-step garrison or an air unit. In the latter case the airborne unit could drop adjacent to the city, attack an...

Re: Zhouyejung caught reloading
the game still has lots of variety at a micro level through the ebb and flow of 'luck'- its fun, of sorts, to look back at some of those 'unfortunate' turns I am still matching my current form of reasonable ASW results against a turn where I think the combined allied airforces ran 11 ASW flights fo...

Re: Zhouyejung caught reloading
I just don't get the desire to reload in order to get a better result. For me, it's very gratifying to know that when I have a good turn and luck is with me that that is an honest result. On the flip side, on those turns where things don't go well for me it's always a fun, and often times a frustrat...

Re: British commnder costs.
I am playing allied and my british commder cost is different. Monty is 100, the indian fello is 30. WTF? The leader.txt file in the data folder of your game install is where the program gets leadership, defense, attack ratings and cost for each leader. The next to the last, or 4th, column in that f...

Re: Case White Strategy Article
By the way, as the axis, I now no longer launch any invasion of Norway. That is, no invasion in 1939, 1940 or 1941. I've come to the conclusion that the risks and pain for a campaign in Norway significantly out weights any possible benefits. So I just leave Norway alone. Given that, and the changes ...

Re: Case White Strategy Article
6. This attack is what all the other attacks have led to and that's the attack on Warsaw. Of course the objective is the destruction of the Polish corps defending Warsaw (Armia Warszaw), the capture of Warsaw and a one turn conquest of Poland. However, if you’ve gotten this far into this plan then w...

This screenshot shows German and Polish positions after the successful execution of attacks 3, 4 and 5. 3. The objective of attack three is the destruction of the Polish infantry corps, Armia Lodz. This was accomplished by ground attacks with three German infantry corps (XVIII, VIII and XIII Armeekr...

Re: Case White Strategy Article
This screenshot shows the German and Polish positions after the successful prosecution of the first two planned attacks. 1. The objective of the first attack is to force the retreat of the Polish Armia Pomorze corps. This was accomplished by a ground strike by the I Luftwaffe fighter unit followed b...

Re: Case White Strategy Article
So let’s get started with my revised Case White Strategy. The Luftwaffe II TAC and IV Fighter units are kept in reserve to finish off those units that survive destruction by 1, 2 or possibly even 3 steps on our to way to our turn 1, hopefully, three armor corps attack on Warsaw. If one or both reser...

Re: Case White Strategy Article
This screenshot is not part of the strategy. I just moved German air units to spot the “hidden” positions of two Polish units: (1) Polish Grupa Kutno garrison two hexes northwest of Warsaw and (2) Polish Grupa Tarnow garrison three hexes east of Krakow. The reason for pointing these two “hidden” gar...

Re: Case White Strategy Article
I’m constantly tinkering and tweaking various strategies. I “stumbled” across a tweak to my Case White strategy that will often allow a player to attack Warsaw with three armor corps during the opening turn invasion of Poland. What percentage of the time “often” is I haven’t and don’t plan to charac...

Re: Question about supplying amphibious invasions
Here's a link to a post that I did a few years back on a strategy for capturing Norway in 1939. I believe it's still relevant: http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=30005#wrap With respect to supplying troops from the coast, you need to park a BB, DD or CV naval unit adjacent to a...

Re: Ronnie vs Allied Player
It does seem as though the Russians are a little light on the Numbers. I have lost more steps on no advantage but with no Convoys and destroyed units, instead of merely depleted steps(which is what might be throwing the image off) alone the death toll is not actually a perfect mirror on what happen...

Re: BattlevonWar (Axis) vs Vokt (Allies)
By invading Holland and not Belgium on the same turn, your opponent has lost the advantage of surprise when he does invade Belgium. This means that all Belgium units will spawn at 10-steps and the Belgium units won't get the efficiency drop. Also, this means that Belgium will likely survive the inva...
