Re: Field of Glory II 1.5.19 Public Beta

i thought of it. maybe it is better to be like this to allow more charges. But if I really want the cav to stay in melee to offer backcharge auto cohesion drop opportunity, I may have to have another unit to block the falling back route.

Re: Field of Glory II 1.5.19 Public Beta

Having played another hot-seat mode custom game to check the performance of cavalry logic. I found that now the lancers is more likely to fall back. 1. Charging the irregular, caused red loss, irregular passed the test and helm firm, lancers fell back. (even if the melee odds is about even) 2. Charg...

Re: FoG Machine Learning Prediction Project

It's very interesting to introduce computer-assist technique into game mechanism analysis. What I am worrying about is that not only the data quantity, as rouguejack mentioned, but also the data quality. I regard the match between human and AI has low data quality since human should always beat AI i...

Re: Field of Glory II 1.5.19 Public Beta

I played one customed battle at last, Roman vs Sarmatian I deployed as the OP suggests, concentrating to one flank. The new AI works as Sarmatian lancers opposing my other "vacant" flank advanced immediately. Shortly after, lancer in mid and the other flank also advanced. This indeed is different to...

Re: Future DLC?

+200 POA perhaps too much. Read the reference sheet of FOG rule, I guess that Knightly lancers may get +100 POA against any cavalry including the current lancers, and +100 POA against any foot except steady pike/spearmen. Thus, Western Knight/Norman knight can have advantage against Byzantine Kaliba...

Re: Field Of Glory module in Steam

If you bought WatG from slitherine store, you could register your dlc and get a steam key in your account page on slitherine website. And then activate that steam key in your steam account. However, so far the personal account page looks down. You may wait for the slitherine website to come back to ...

Re: POA effects of disorder and severe disorder?

Supposing a standard Roman cohort attacks sth. Let's say massed archers. Impact phase. Roman cohort gets +200 POA for impact foot, +50 POA for superiority quality. massed archers. No impact capability. So Roman gets 200 POA, which translates to about 65% probability advantage. Because cohort is seve...

terrain doesn't effect POA. It only starts kicking in after POA translated into win-draw-loss percentage.
That doesn't sound correct.
It doesn't if we go for the details of different unit types, but in general it does. I regard them as exceptions.

Re: Moving through a ZOC

In my view, secondary ZOC should have some difference with primary ZOC. If one wants to make secondary ZOC working as locking lasso, it diminishes the purpose and importance of primary one. So if you want to lock enemy's unit, why not use your primary ZOC instead of secondary one?

Re: Arrows vs Armour: Agincourt Myth Busting

It's fantastic video. Although from my previous knowledge that arrow can't penetrate the plate, which I guessed right, the impact power of the shots and effectiveness of jupon still amazed me. Thanks for the link.

Re: Moving through a ZOC

The manual actually talks about this situation.

In section 12.1.1 ZOC, it says

If a unit is in the ZOC of multiple enemy units, the game will decide
which one it must move away from – prioritizing primary ZOCers.

Re: Give the shieldwall unit some helmets like Dailami foot and make hirdsmen armoured?

Our main source was Ian Heath's Armies of the Dark Ages, which states, when discussing 7th-9th century Saxons: "Mail byrnies and helmets were both considerable rarities amongst the early Saxons, though, like swords, they became more common later on." Given that the Hirdsmen unit is used in the game...

Re: I suggest upgrade Italic Rebel in later game in FOGII

The conversion is not dependent on army lists, it is a direct unit by unit translation. Each unit in FOGE translates to one specific FOG2 unit. (Though there is some post-processing in FOG2 for horse archers and pre-Marian legions) So, in order for FOG2 to use different units for Italian rebels aft...

Re: province auto management

I agree that micro-management is tedious in this game. My current one becomes piling purple buildings to control the loyalty. Money, manpower or metal is not an issue for now. The meta in late game is kind of "conquer, building enough purple to control loyalty(decadence), continue conquering". Nothi...

I suggest upgrade Italic Rebel in later game in FOGII

Currently Italic rebels transferred to FOGII are always mainly Italian foot, even if I already reformed my legions as imperial legion. I think the rebels should be upgraded as well, say Imitation Legion is a good candidate. If this issue is created by that dev needs to stick to one current existing ...

Re: Archers too weak

Longbows are in the game files right now if you want to take a look. They are equivalent to regular bows when shooting at up to protected, and better than reg bows when shooting at armored and above. They are outshot by crossbows when targeting heavy armor, but better in all other circumstances. It...

Re: Give the shieldwall unit some helmets like Dailami foot and make hirdsmen armoured?

Models having armor or not is one issue, but the source justifying that hirdsmen are less protected than huscarl is another. I am only curious about the latter. Our main source was Ian Heath's Armies of the Dark Ages, which states, when discussing 7th-9th century Saxons: "Mail byrnies and helmets w...
