I dont feel sorry for anyone of them. I hope we do what they would do to us (and have done on a number of occasions) and show them no mercy whatsoever. Anything less than a 3-1 victory would be pointless. It is not enough to accept a 2-2 retention of the ashes after the fine performances our chaps ...

If there is any amendments of rules for V2 I'd go for what DBM did at the end and post them online. And that was then a big problem because it wasn't ever possible to buy the latest version of the rules. I can only speak for myself but after shelling out nearly £200 on a set of rules and lists that...

That sounds awfully commercial . Battlefront at least used the excuse they wanted to be more historical and so wanted to organise the units more historically . So people have to rebase some units, reorganise it all and buy new miniatures, new books and use new rules, ... that's why I stopped playin...

Things to speed up the game: 1. Make all battlegroups have the same frontage. 2. Mandate that all BGs line up with each other in combat 3. POAs apply per battlegroup instead of per file 4. No formation changes; BGs always stay in whatever formation they started the battle (this means you can put th...

If you are bored one day try fighting 4 BGs of 8 HW in a line vs 8 BGs of 4 Lt spear swordsmen. Give both sides 2 commanders and see what happens. I would say it will pan out fairly even, certainly no worse than 55 45 either way. If it is even I would argue we have a problem. This means that small ...

Of course, as you yourself recognise, your preferred interpretation is supposition as well. If you want to take the sources really literally, you would have to consider that the gold, silver, and silk you make such mention of would not deflect many weapons ;) If they were relatively heavily armoure...

You need to be careful how you look at the army list. Do you wan to build a Pontic army? Then if so, have at it; the list is very interesting and diverse. If you want to build a LRR army with cool Mithridatic stuff in it, then you just can't. Mike B Nope don't want to build a Pontic army Mike, don'...

Re: Pontic Imitation Legionaries
As Mithridates' army was described as being luxuriously equipped with lots of gold and silver, shining armour, silk etc how is it that in the FoG lists he couldn't afford to kit out his imitation legionaries with enough armour for them to count as "armoured"? Seems a little odd as they ar...

I don't think it's inevitable, Impetus is a unit based system and doesn't have this problem. To be fair though I have only read Impetus and have yet to play a game, when I do they might be brilliant but then again they might be awful. Despite the complexity of some combats I feel that FoG bringing ...

What I hate about FoG is multiple complex combats where you get units that don't line up, some are disordered so lose dice but some aren't, some files are missing back ranks so have different POAs to their friends next door, then you've got to work out who did what damage to who afterwards...... It...

I feel WOTR is one of the weaker FoG lists, put together sloppily and as an afterthought really. Apologies if that sounds harsh and over critical, that's not my intent. Frankly though, the Poleaxed ones would be much better as they are period specific and better researched. Feel free to knock up so...

The problem is the list which allows the multiple 4 base BGs of bill and therefore allows WOTR billmen to zip around like Roman cohorts. You shouldn't have to be devising tactics to deal with that in the first place. I've brought this up in a previous topic so I won't go on at length about it here a...

I have a Yorkist army and I've found that deploying bow in front of bill doesn't really work. The bow shoot for a while then move behind the bill where they spend the rest of the game doing nothing. (By the time you've finished trying to get the bow out from behind the bill into a better position th...

Well I have to say I didn't feel ripped off. My opponent Steve seemed a very nice fellow who deserved to win, though I have to say his ability to roll 11s and 12s seemingly at will certainly helped!!! I see what you are saying Hammy and it does make perfect sense when explained in the clear style yo...

Look at P94: You determine how many dice in total the BG is losing Then you look at the dice at different POAs Consider a simple example: a BG of bow that is disrupted is charged and contacted on a 2 base frontage. It should get 4 impact dice and 2 support shooting dice. A total of 6 dice so as it ...
