Re: Crafting and resources
Ok, I just finished the story on easy. I then started an endless campaign on easy - but it's not easy. Already on my very first mission, with barely any equipment at all, I encounter everything possible to encounter. Those jellyfish, the exploding jellyfish, spineskulkers, murkfiends, two fathom see...

Re: [Bug] Salvage Mission fails after first turn
I once had a salvage mission succeed after first turn. It happened just as I had killed one of those exploding jellyfish, which for some reason prompted the mission successful message.

Re: Crafting and resources
Yep. The balancing of this game is way off. I unfortunately had to refund the game. I love the premise, but the extremely brutal difficulty and lack of resources/ resource cost to do many things was just way out of whack. A bit harsh? Sure, the balance is off at the moment, but at the time of your ...

Torpedos
I just learned to my chagrin that torpedos are not in endless supply. I thought at first I was limited to 3 per mission, but it seems I am limited to 3 per game (plus another 3 once I clear the flooding from the aft torpedo room). In a game where the submarine is producing infinite quantities of oxy...

Crafting and resources
I know it's early days yet (but I'm still loving this game to death), but there seems to be certain imbalances when it comes to copper, in particular. Repairing/converting compartments takes an awful lot of copper, and copper is very rare to find at the moment. I find some maybe 1 in 3 or 4 missions...

Re: Spartan/Gates of Troy/Chariots of War
My personal preference is for Chariots of War, but that may simply be because that's the one I played first. There are some changes from CoW to Spartan that were for the better, and others for the worse. If you haven't played any of them, however, elaborating on those changes isn't going to tell you...

Re: Tinkering with squads.txt
Ok, now I know why all PanicEffectors were set to 0 - they don't work properly. This became immediately clear when I was attacked by Nubian independents, two different auxilia units which I had given 1 and 2 to this stat respectively. I had a full garrison and defeated them easily, but once the seco...

Re: Slitherine learned a lot
Despite diplomacy being present in this game, it seems as if there's no diplomacy at all, and even when relations with another civ was maximum, all this ended up being moot and redundant when you end up being their neighbor and them sending 6 squads of full-large army stacks on one of your cities, ...

Re: AI Diplomacy
I believe Iain said elsewhere that difficulty setting only affects starting conditions. In my current game, I got sent diplomats from two or three other nations early, but then they withdrew them again, and now I haven't had any foreign dignitaries over in years. They do send you diplomats, but what...

Re:
I'm also pretty sure that the PanicEffector rating determines how much the unit is hurt by casualties. Whether it determines how much each casualty affects morale or how much a drop to the next morale grade affects the unit's fighting potential, I've got no clue. I will necro my own thread, mainly ...

Re: Editing text files and creating mods in GoT/Spartan
I tried to give the slave market a 100% production bonus instead of 75%, in order to make it remotely interesting to build.* But while the in-game description has changed from 75% to 100%, the actual bonus is still 75%. Is this hard coded, or does it perhaps max out at 75%? I find that all other sta...

Re: Economics Control
This is a bug, I think. It has always happened to me, too: When the economy gets large, gold values change wildly - or do they? I make it a habit to visit the trade section each turn to sell or buy a commodity (and change it back afterwards), and when I do the exchange rates return to normal. This c...

Pricing - due for an update?
As much as I love Chariots of War, I do think nearly £12 for a 14 year old game is a bit steep. Especially considering slitherine.com is the only place people are likely to find and buy the game, I don't think it is going to attract many new buyers at that price. What's more, it is more expensive th...

I have a feeling it's a browser issue, maybe some plugin causing grief. Earlier I just couldn't stay logged in. I logged in, checking the box for logging me in automatically each visit, and the online flag was shown on my avatar - yet when I tried to post, I had to log in again. This was persistent...

Re: Invalid download links
Same thing here. I bought all grand campaigns in one go, and none of the download links worked. Same message for each of them: Cannot download Invalid download URL. Please contact Plimus support at support@plimus.com and mention the URL you are using for download. I've sent them an email with the li...

+ Defence against enemy interceptors would indeed be very useful. I've noticed something, though: strat bombers gain lots of experience from bombing cities, but almost no experience from attacking ships, regardless of kills. I noticed this the first time when my He-111 scored 7 kills on a light crui...

Hi Kissaki While some minor tank upgrades were possible ad hoc, made by the repair/tech guys of the Division/unit, most of the unit changes were brand new tanks (or even repaired and upgraded at hte manufacturer plant) that reached the front unit to fill losses/upgrade after being produced at the m...

It makes perfect sense when you think about it. After all, if you upgrade a PzIII to any model of PzIV, it is a completely new tank. You can't actually upgrade a PzIII to a PzIV, you simply give the crew a new tank. When upgrading within the same family, however, you use the same chassis, the same t...
