Map Art
Has anyone seen the new Compass Games boardgame, Battle Hymn Vol.1: Gettysburg and Pea Ridge ? The map is amazingly similar to the one in this game. When I first saw this map, it seemed stylistically different from any other map I'd seen, certainly any other Gettysburg map. Consequently, seeing a ne...

Re: some questions?
Madgamer2, Can't tell whether you know this, but the companion game, Pike & Shot is the same system, but covering warfare in Europe from the late 15th century thru the seventeenth. Tons of playable armies are included. The final and most complete version is Pike & Shot: Campaigns , which inc...

Re: UI feedback
It doesn't seem like that's what's happening, but I'm getting old, so I guess it's possible. As I said, it seems like it always happens when I least want it to.
Oh, well, guess I'll have to be more careful.

Re: UI feedback
Never mentioned this before, but it's been going on since Pike & Shot . Sometimes [always at the worst time!], when I select a unit, hover over an enemy, see ONLY the melee symbol and try to check to see if it would be favorable, my unit charges without me having ordered it to, just as a result ...

Re: Buy or Wait
I agree, Rich. I buy from Steam, because it's nearly inescapable. However, if I can get a game from the publisher, I always go that route.
As for the thread topic, I'd say get it now, while there's a discount. I've already played about five games of it, and I'm really enjoying it.

extra content for the collector's edition
Hi, I purchased the collector's edition today. After a few historical and skirmish games, I attempted to play a skirmish from the Genko Campaign. However, the game informed me that I need to install that content before I can play. I have three questions: 1. Is the Genko Campaign part of the collecto...

Re: Caracole III - Results Thread
My Catholics [9.1 pts] triumphed over Doyley's Swedes [1 pt], 10% to 41%. The Swedes hung back, while the Catholics advanced their cavalry on both flanks. The battle on the Catholic right went back and forth, but their left eventually swept their opponents from the field. The Catholic infantry event...

Re: Caracole II -- Phase 2
Ah, that explains it! I thought your units were just more expensive than mine. Good thing for me that I was able to win before the flanking units showed up. Might have ended differently.

Re: Caracole II -- Phase 2
Hrothgar as Russians 1560-97 win [12%] vs. Ulysisgrunt as Ottomans 1560-1609 loss [40%] The Ottoman cavalry was concentrated on his left, and it thoroughly routed the Russian's right-wing cavalry. However, the Russian streltsy significantly outnumbered the Ottoman janissaries, and were able to take ...

Re: Caracole II -- Phase 2
As kmaher has modestly refrained from posting the results of our first match, here they are: kmaher: Dutch 1640-1648 win [30%] vs Hrothgar: Spanish 1635-1648 [59%] The Dutch marched across my front, and, with cavalry leading the way, enveloped my left. The Spanish cavalry weren't up to dealing with ...

Re: Caracole II -- Phase 2
Managed to hold on to a victory:
Hrothgar: Russian 1598-1620 win [17%] vs kmaher: Polish 1576-1610
The Polish Hussars made my life difficult, as always, but between fire from my streltsy and flanking attacks by my cavalry I was able to prevail.
