Re: Better Armour POA
No. Note that unlike FOG-A, "protected" is not an armor class. But the shot always cancel the better armor POA of any stand facing them no matter if the shot is protected or not. I am new to the Forum but I have been playing Both sets of rules for some time. I do wonder why Shot, get to i...

Re: Keils
I was thinking that page 113 addresses this: "a battle group never counts as fighting enemy in 2 directions as a consequence of a charge unless it was a legal flank or rear charge", meaning that so long as the 2 files remained with 4+ bases it would remain a keil no matter how many BGs sl...

Re: Keils
Well they certainly don't count as fighting in 2 directions, because "a battle group never counts as fighting enemy in 2 directions as a consequence of a charge unless it was a legal flank or rear charge." (P113). It seems that they would no longer count rear support - but does that seem ...

Re: Keils
To avoid misinterpretation, I think "no longer count AS rear support" was meant because a BG in full-edge close combat (whether on one or more sides) cannot provide support, but can receive support, and its rear edge for measurement remains its rear edge. Properly formed kiels, not threat...

Re: Keils
Hi, on page 29 of the rules it defines what a keil is, "a BG must include at least 2 files each including at least 4 bases. At least 2 of these 4 bases must have pike capability, and the rest either pike, heavy weapon or swordmen capability." This is very clear but does the keil formation...

Re: How many muskets on bases in P&S units?
What are most gamers who are building new armies doing? Putting three muskets on a base, or four? I ask because I will be selling the TYW infantry in units and it would be nice to know how many muskets I should have in the units! Also because of the Confederate Irish that are coming soon -- as they...

Re: Question about Essex Miniatures
i have a question about Essex Miniatures 15mm Standard Bearers, i heard or read somewhere (i dont remember where) that they had the flag already molded on so you had to paint the flag, and i would really rather not. can some one with experience with Essex Miniatures tell me if this is true or not? ...

Re: Better Armour POA
Hey Guy's An unarmored musketeer becomes protected when adjacent to a base of pike when in melee against unarmored lancers. Does the musketeer gain the better armored + in the melee POA? No. Note that unlike FOG-A, "protected" is not an armor class. But the shot always cancel the better a...

Re: Overlap with swordsman
Hey guys, If you have a 8 base BG of warriors counting swordsman vs a 6 base BG of pike n shot ( both BG's in two ranks), do the swordsman count as double + including the overlap or just the overlap base counts as te double + :?: The overlap will get one die at++. For the POA's of the other six use...

Swedes add +4 per base its listed in the points per base column. Nevertheless, Swedes have not so far been found to dominate tournaments (and there were several of these during the beta phase). Getting the points right is a difficult balance to achieve, even with extensive play-testing, but so far ...

I think early tercios do, but not the later ones, need more than 12 bases I think. Artillery, especially massed battery.... 6 medium guns, takes a tercio down were finding.... in fact , a massed battery seems to be tremendously effective generally! Late tercios (and kiels) count as self-supported i...

Re: Difference between Cavaliers & Determined Horse
On page 165 of rule book it states that Cavaliers 'can get carried away in the pursuit of defeated enemy.' This would suggest a penalty in the CMT to stop a pursuit. However, apart from being cheaper than Determined horse I can find no difference anywhere. Am I missing something? Yes, you are. See ...

Last game my cav moved up on Parliaments guns, went disrupted and then failed the CMT to charge before the foot managed to move into rear contact with the battery. Then I had to charge in against defended guns, although I did not take any other casualties or cohesion losses after that first SNAFU.....

Not sure how you got ++ for the cavaliers against the parliamentarian horse. Assuming the horse had carbines and no impact pistols, the cavaliers should have been + for pistols and the horse - for not having them. Cavaliers get +POA for Impact Pistols, and +POA for being Impact Mounted Doesn't matt...
