Usernames in conflict: merging usernames to a single login

A number of users were experiencing issues when logging in since we moved to the Unified Login System. This results from users having different accounts in different parts of the system. We tried to automatically merge these accounts but a number need to be manually resolved and we took a step further to solve this problem.

So now when you login on the Slitherine site, if we detect you have used a different username in another part of the system, you will see a new form that will allow you to do one of these options:
1) merge your multiple usernames to one of your usernames (only possible if there is no conflict with another username in another part of the system) or
2) select a new username to merge everything to.
This will ensure you can login to all parts of our system with a single unified username.

If you suffer this problem (you have multiple usernames and you are not sure which one to use), it is very important that you merge to a single username to remove this problem completely.

Most users are fine and you will not need to do anything but we're hoping this will resolve any login issues for the small number affected. If you have any questions or problems please let us know.

Probably you have conflicting usernames and accounts registered under different email addresses.

I have the exact same problem as fabforrest. This happens every couple of years. They merged with Matrix Games a couple of years ago, had this exact same problem. Not sure why it is coming up now. I sent an email to support. Maybe the can fix it for me.

yesterday I could log onto Slitherine using my user name etc as normal. Today every attempt to do so gets me bounced with a demand to change my user name.

I almost never use the Slitherine forums apart from for Pike and Shot and (now) FoG2 as all the other games I own and play actively have more active forums on the Matrix or AGEOD sites. For my own sanity, and because I am active on both Matrix and AGEOD, I really do not want to have my user name changed.

I can understand you want a coherent approach but, as things stand, I don't want the general hassle of having to use a new user name. If the price is not being able to access content via the Slitherine forum I can accept that - but clearly it would influence any future game buying as there will be no sense picking up a game where this is where the bulk of material (and the means to access patches etc) sits?

On some cases, we can consolidate the accounts under the older username... unfortunately not all.
Better always to contact us support[at]slitherine.co.uk and provide your accounts (new and old) usernames as well the email addresses used.
We can then see if it 's possible or not.

Be sure to check your junk email settings, and bear in mind the weekend. Support are generally very responsive.

I can't login to the Matrix forum because my Slitherine password seems to be wrong somehow, and I can't create a new account because of my e-mail address, which is already used by me, Asap (the only account I have).
