25/28mm Camps...Gigantic?

Post by Blathergut »

Is it just me or are the camps in 25/28mm awfully huge to squeeze into the deployment zone?

Do you stick it off on a flank to get it out of the way?

Usually, I place my camps at the edge of the board close to terrain that helps to protect the camps.

Usually, my regular opponents and I ignore each others camps as far as"heading" to the enemy camp as a goal. If/when we stumble up to it when pursueing a unit or whatever...THEN...we will sack it if we can.

THAT said....the opponents camp is worth points if sacked.

Looking at the picture of Kluszyn 1610 (See Wikipedia) the baggage camps are too small
The Russians had one camp on the left and their mercenary allies another to the right.
The two together extended across the whole of the width of the army deployed if the painting is to be believed.
If this is a true reflection then the Gush/WRG 6th interpretation of baggage camps would be more realistic
But then we would not need to buy and paint dioramas
But we would need rules for troops off table returning etc - perhaps a step too far
