Division B
Macedonczyk(Byzantine+North Africa Arab) beat Nijis(Fatimid Egyptian) 50:24
A tough fight, the result of which was decided by the lucky attack of my lancers on the enemy lancers.
I don't think I've ever lost about 9 skirmishes in 3 turns. Ghilmans with good General can be very dangerous.

Division C
rs2excelsior (Carthaginian 550-411 BC with Greek, Western 460-381 BC allies) beat wmpryor (Lydian 550-546 BC) 60-35
A fun match against the Lydian army which I played last season. Both sides deployed similarly, my heavy infantry facing off against theirs in the center, with my cavalry on the right and my heavy chariots on the left, facing off against the fearsome Lydian lancers. I also deployed medium foot on either flank to help with either the infantry or cavalry fights, and take advantage of patches of rough ground to either end of the main battle.
The infantry battle started out with the skirmishers fighting over a small village just in front of the Lydian battle line, which delayed my attack in the center a bit as the skirmishers held up the hoplites. On the left, my African spearmen, Greek hoplites, and Spanish scutarii rolled over the Phrygian medium foot and raw Lydian hoplites. The right flank also made some success, but not quite as dramatic. On the flanks, the Lydian cavalry crushed both my own horse and the heavy chariots. However, both the Poeni medium foot generally being as obstructing as possible and on the right my cavalry retreating and drawing the lancers back away from the fight effectively kept the lancers from crashing into the rear of my engaged infantry. With the Lydian left gradually being broken and the center holding on well until I could envelop them with my own victorious left flank, I was afraid the lancers would arrive in time to turn the tide - but the remainder of the Lydian infantry dissolved almost at once. A few Lydian units rallied which drew out the end of the battle, but the lancers couldn't really charge unengaged spears frontally (and my mediums were still trying to lock them down as much as possible), and eventually enough skirmishers and cav were worn down to bring the battle to an end.
A screenshot of the end of the battle, where the Carthaginian line had turned and marched back to face the largest group of lancers. The location of the main infantry fight just north of the built-up area is visible. Good game to my opponent, whose Lydian hoplites weren't able to stand up against the variety of line infantry the Carthaginians can bring, and whose lancers were frustrated at every turn in their efforts to aid the main battle. Definitely an enjoyable fight!

Geoffrey.P.Smith - Lydian 550-546 BC with Greek 680-461 BC allies beat Morat - Roman 199-106 BC with Greek 227-146 BC allies 53-23
I did not think Lydia would prevail here, although ahead marginally in the main scrummage, these Eastern Romans had a Phalanx as well as the usual pre Marius legionaries, I thought they would hold indefinitely. Meanwhile I had sent the Lydian cavalry to their doom, flanking around behind the woods to smack into a detachment of triari & their elephant! I was lucky they drew off the elephant, plus when a pike unit broke through the Roman lines the triari were far away killing cavalry. Roman nerve broke suddenly as the pike units outflanked them.
Good fight thanks Morat.

Division B
Karvon (Roman 24 BC with Jewish allies) defeated cromlechi (Roman 379-424 AD) 64-47 for a 4-0 win.
Using a superiority in light foot to sweep through a large woods securing the enemy left, these in turn destroyed the enemy horse on that wing allowing our following heavies and mediums to turn the enemy left and fall upon some artillery in their rear. The enemy right supported by horse was attempting to do the same to our weaker left and were making significant progress. We then unleashed our horse reserve hidden in woods on our left which took the enemy assault in the flank and rear. Though our left mostly broke, we rolled up the enemy left and center breaking the army.

Weekly round-up
A decisive week in Division A where returnee Ludendorf (Hannibal in Africa) slammed the door shut on his challengers with 3 more wins to remain unbeaten and take the champion's spot. Snugglebunnies (Roman), Nosy-Rat (Indian), dkalenda (Pontic) and Triarii (Jewish) will now fight it out for the minor places. At the bottom Cunningcairn (Thracian) must win his last match against Morbio (Roman) to have any chance of avoiding relegation. There are still 3 players in Division B with 100% records. nyczar (Spartan) and XLegione (Roman) both have 5 straight wins while Questar17 (Ptolemaic) has 3 straight wins. Division C is very close with 8 points covering the top 8 places at the moment, but NikiforosFokas (Hannibal in Africa) is best placed with 4 wins from 4 starts. At the bottom MikeMarchant (Roman) and General Shapur (Seleucid) both desperately need points to avoid relegation. In Division D SLancaster (Lysimachid) has finished his matches unbeaten and posted a target of 28 points which means elrawen (Macedonian) needs 5 points from his matches against Bluefin (Syracusan) and Challenge1 (Roman) to win automatic promotion. BishUK (Achaemenid) still has a clear lead in Division E but baldrick52 (Indo-Parthian) remains in contention with a fourth win from 5 starts. A win for BishUK in his last match against rs2excelsior (Ptolemaic) will be enough to secure automatic promotion though. It is a 2 horse race in Division F where DanZanzibar (Carthaginian) has moved back to the top of the table after his sixth win from 7 starts. The only likely challenger now is Blagrot (Samnite) who has 4 wins from 5 matches. Brenmusik (Slave Revolt) is now odds-on favourite to secure the wooden spoon.

Weekly round-up
Not much change in Division A this week but In Division B hidde (Indian) is beginning to establish a clear lead now after his fifth successive win. Cunningcairn (Arab City) is the closest pursuer at the moment. In Division C both frontrunners IMC (Ancient British) and Challenge1 (Dacian) suffered defeats, which means only phoyle3290 (Western Huns) can now prevent IMC from gaining automatic promotion. In Division D a second defeat for Garokan (Bedouin) means that edb1815 (Breton) and bomber23 (Germanic Horse Tribes) are favourites now to fight it out for the automatic promotion place. In Division E DanZanzibar (Arab City) still has a healthy 10 point lead but Aetius39's (Palmyran) third straight victory has kept him very much in the contest. In Division F Warg1 (Arab City) suffered a shock defeat to bottom-placed Stormcrow in his last match, but he will win automatic promotion now unless hyme (Alan) wins all of his remaining 6 matches with maximum points.
