Division E
Holien - Carthaginian ((Hannibal in Africa) 202 BC with Numidian/Moorish 341-56 BC allies)) defeats deeter - (Gallic 300-101 BC) 50 - 13
The score as ever does not reflect the reality of the actual game and fight it entailed. Deeter's warbands fell prey to double drops in morale and the Elephants ran amock. I am trying to find the quote from RBS along the lines that Elephants can make generals look far better than they really are. The Warbands trait of chasing a routing unit also worked against him as the successes he did have ran into my second line who were able to deal flanking blows to them helping to overcome him far quicker than either of us thought possible. Many thanks for the game and chat Thank you...

Division B
Captainwaltersavage (Sixteen Kingdoms 304-439 AD) defeats ray552 Chinese (Jin) 317-420 AD 40:14
Knowing the dangers of attacking archers on a hill, the horse lords played a waiting game looking for an opportunity to arise. A skirmish battle broke out on the right flank where I had hoped to slip some skirmishers through the forests guarding the enemy flank but they had their own skirmishers in force. Apparently the way to win a skirmish battle is to bring lots of skirmishers, and lots of massed archers, and some horse archers and some heavy lancers and then some infantry for support. The Jin rushed in some supporting troops but it was too late and they ended up trapped in the woods being shot to death and the threat of the lancers kept the enemy right flank and centre on the hill. The end came when an assault force of lancers and infantry stormed the hill after shooting the defenders into disruption and confusion. Lovely for me when almost everything went right, with just enough archers to disrupt the enemy and enough infantry to finish the job before the enemy reserves could have an effect. My left flank was destroyed when the heavy cavalry of the Jin charged down from the hill to great effect, but it was too little too late with the Sixteen kingdoms lancers sweeping the hill clear. Looking forward to the rematch next season with Ray552 , now that honours are even.

carpenkm - German 933-1049 AD with Lombard 776-1049 AD allies beat Garokan - Spanish 900-1049 AD with Andalusian 756-1049 AD allies 68 - 41
Tough match - the inferior German cav held long enough for the Infantry to do their job. Well played.

Division B
lydianed (Rus with Bulgar Allies) defeated lunecastle (Anglo-Saxons with Welsh Allies) 61:59.
Could not have been closer. The game hinged on superior troops being much less superior than they should be for much of the game and eventually came down to how many skirmishers the Rus managed to finally bag. Great game played with great spirit and humour which is lunecastle's trademark.

Morbio (Carthaginian) defeats Triarii (Pyrrhic) 59-32
Another day when the Gods favoured the sons of Carthage. I think Triarii did as well as he could and was never going to win.

2. Triarii P2-4pts
