Div B
Karvon - Carthaginian 235-146BC with Spanish 300 -10 BC drew with MarcoCato75 - Roman 105 - 25 BC with Numidian allies 29-3.
A long slope with scattered patches of rough ran across the center broken by a small pass in about the middle. The right half turned into a steep rise for a while than tapered back to gentle. A large forest lay at the foot of the right half of the ridge on our side of the field. On the Roman side of the field a fair sized woods anchored on a gentle hill looked across a bit of open fields towards the ridge. A couple of large rough patches lay in the Roman far right corner.
We deployed a large division of cavalry supported by an elephant well-hidden behind the long slope on our left. We deployed a large body of medium foot in the woods behind the slope on our right. A smaller division of spearmen formed up on our far right to the right of the mediums. A small division of cavalry supported by an elephant was in reserve behind them. A long line of light screened the ridge with our light horse anchoring the line on the left. Our plan was to advance our mediums to secure the right ridge initially while our light would push on and scout the opposing woods. If the situation seemed favorable, our mediums could cross the plain and then sweep the opposing woods supported by our cavalry and elephant reserve and spearmen. I hoped to draw the Roman lights and horse forward to counter my light screen along the ridge then turn loose my large cavalry division and elephant to deal with them.
The Romans formed up their heavy foot with the woods as an anchor for their left. A few light foot screened their front and a large body of Numedian light horse screened their right. Their cavalry formed up in a reserve behind the light horse. A few medium foot were visible in a second line behind the heavies.
I decided to initially keep most of non-lights hidden and see what the Romans would do. They opted for a cautious advance in line with edge of the forest while their light horse backed up by their cavalry moved forward to counter my lights moving to extend to my left. Some of their lights and mediums moved up on their left to secure the edges of the woods.
Seeing they weren't going to do anything too rash, I moved my mediums forward supported by my mounted reserve and spearmen to secure the woods. This led to a bit of fight between a few of his lights and a couple of mediums vs my larger force, which drug on for awhile before my numbers overwhelmed him. He didn't attempt to reinforce the fight, opting to pull back his remaining mediums supported by a couple of heavies and elephant to form a refused line covering his left. My surviving mediums and lights pushed forward to the edges of the cleared woods and skirmished indecisively with his line, which caused them to drop back a bit further, well clear of the woods. I redeployed some of the mediums and horse to help secure the left side of the woods and shifted my spears to extend the line left of the woods.
In the meantime, the Roman cavalry attempted to run down some of my lights on my far left and I sprang my large cavalry division and elephant on them. They promptly beat a retreat to the far left as they were cut off from the main body. I spent quite a bit of time chasing them down in the far corner of the field, before finally catching or driving them off. We then began the long ride back to the center to threaten the Roman right.
The Romans pulled back on all fronts into a tight box and darkness fell before we could bring all our forces to bear for any sort of successful assault.

Division A
Geffalrus (Bactrians) defeats Challenge1 (Macedonians) 41-10
Was not overly optimistic about my chances of overcoming a bunch of pikes and elephants with an army of mostly lancers, but I gave it a go anyway. In this case, I got fairly lucky - my thureos survived against the Thorakitai long enough for other units to flank them, my pikes double teamed a vet pike and broke it ridiculously quickly (flanking helped), and my lancers managed to lure the elephants out to the flanks while the Cataphracts kept the rest of the infantry busy. A few different dice rolls and things would have turned out VERY differently. Cheers to my opponent for a very interesting game.

snooky51 (Rus 960-1053AD w/ Viking 900-1049AD allies) defeats kroche (Viking 790-899AD w/ British 600-1030AD allies) -- 55-30 (85-30)
Alot of early positioning, Rus won a decisive victory on the Viking right wing which decided the battle.

Division A
Changdao (Byzantine Italy 1050-1071 with Papal 1050-1154) defeats Batesmotel (Byzantine 988-1041) 60-49.
After holding the center while slowly losing the left flank, the later byzantine cavalry flanking force defeated the enemy rearguard and caught the enemy in a pincer. All in all, a really close battle.
Thanks for the game

Div C
Morat (Lydian) defeated lunecastle (Ptolemaic) 62-37
Fascinating struggle where the Lydian Hoplites and some horse looked to flank on the left, and ran into a Ptolemaic force secure on a low hill. On the right a surprise foray by the rest of the Lydian cavalry just about got the upper hand on their foes.
But it was on the left where the battle was decided, both sides continued to feed units into the struggle - and in the end (just) the larger volume of Lydians carried the day.
Many thanks to lunecastle for a great game - closer throughout than the score suggests - played in an excellent spirit
That's the last game in TDC for me. Many thanks to all the organisers for a fabulous tournament.

Stew101 (Spanish) defeats Lennard Scots (Isles and Highlands).
Score 62 - 54%.
Points
Stew101 - 68
Lennard - 54.
Another titanic struggle where the Spanish foot were able to avoid contact long enough for their cavalry to pick off a few units on the fringes of the Scots line. This slender lead was just enough to keep their noses in from.
Great game, thanks Lennard.

This is not going to finish so here is the end of my last turn in case my opponent can't squeeze one more out before the death. Apologies, probably should have taken a close up of the score rather than gone panoramic, the score is 7-23. (Geffalrus: tap tap tap.....enhance......tap tap tap.......enhance)
