If the aim of undo is to prevent mistakes then why not just have the game ask "is this move OK?" and the player then have to click some kind of stupid OK button after EACH move?

Then have an option to turn off this stupid option so the majority of people can just play away as they want to.

Good idea though for the purchase and lab though. We all make crazy decisions initially in these areas which we regret as soon as we click.

I agree with you that a confirmation after each move would be too unwieldy. Perhaps though, they could do as other games have done, include an undo of the type discussed above, but also include an "Ironman" option where the undo is disabled, and all saves and reloads are disabled except when exiting the game (no "ingame" saves allowed). On exiting the game the previous save would be overwritten, so there is no way to go back and correct any mistakes. For the experienced player, I would think it would be fun to try the challenge of "working without a net" on occasion.

Are you ironic or serious? It would have absolutely no sense, people would just have it on "off" all the time. I don't see what's so bad about adding the "undo" I understand the need to limit it or even disable in MP, but in SP a player can just house-rule it to use it only for genuine mistakes. And even if a player wants to cheat in SP, who cares?

up to January 42 in my first try and on a few occassions I moved a unit then forgot to attack. Kind of irritating at first but I soon got used to it and IMO simulates breakdowns in communications etc etc, So not a problem for me.

davetheroad:

Your comment raised some questions in my mind concerning the game. 1) Can you move a unit, deselect it and move other units, then subsequently return to the first unit and move that unit further or use it to conduct combat? 2) Can you both move a unit and also use it to conduct combat on the same turn? 3) If so, can you conduct combat first and then move subsequently? I hope that the answer to all of these is yes since, in my experience, increased flexibility usually makes a game more enjoyable and realistic.

Thanks Slitherine. I have been away from this genre since I got bored with SC2.

Great game so far. SC2 really missed the boat on map scale. (We'll see how the new expansion turns out but kudos to Slitherine)

What is needed: (I have not played past June 1940 so I apologize if some of these ARE in there)

Paratroopers
Diplomacy
Atomic Bomb
Free French, Dutch, Belgian, Polish and Greek units
Ability to add minor cities, forts and ports.
Ability to add units into the starting OOB.
Ability to add certain units to arrive on specific dates automatically. (Eg. Bismark, Patton, Rommel etc.)
Ability to add certain units when specific events happen. (Waffen SS when Paris, Kiev, Oslo and Amsterdam fall, Spanish Blue Divisions, Croatian Militia )
A more aggressive AI.

No, I emphatically disagree.

All those things would accomplish is to complicate the game, and clutter up a wonderfully clean game system.

Just say NO to feature creep!
