Division C
Badger73 (Palmyran 258-273 AD) defeated ulysisgrunt (Roman 379-424 AD with Hunnic Western allies) - 55:30
The map favored a protective stance by Palmyra. A range of rough terrain hills with difficult terrain slopes ran from the left edge of the Palmyran deployment zone as a straight line into the main battle area. The terrain was ideal for massed archers on the rough terrain hilltops and light archers on the difficult slopes. Their infantry bow-fire would out-range superior quality Hunnic horse archers. The Palmyrans sent their own Roman allies home and took the field with all their available cataphracts, a half dozen light horse archers, and all the rest as massed and light infantry archers. The hill range also hid the mass formation of cataphracts from enemy observation as it advanced across the map for the first few turns. The Romans and Huns approached toward the Palmyran infantry where Hun cavalry began exchanging bow fire with Palmyran infantry. The longer ranged Palmyran archery disrupted several superior quality Hunnic horse archer units while Palmyran cataphracts burst forth from their left flank to pin the Roman right flank melee cavalry between rough hills and scattered woods. The capaphracts prevailed and then turned against exposed enemy Limetes infantry units of the Roman center in the open. Although the Palmyran infantry took a number of losses when three units of Auxilia Palatina stormed the hills as Hunnic cavalary ran Palmyran light cavalry off the field, Palmyra held the upper hand and eventually turned the tide in their favor. A tense match against a noble opponent.

Bagatrix1805 defeated GFS26 score of 43-16
The knights picked on the Byz Heavy cav on the right flank and on the left the Germans got a few lucky rolls which allowed the Germans to not attack up hill much to the relief of the German commander.
thanks for the game

Rafydedel (Granadine 1232-1319) defeats mh5064 German (Imperial) 1200-1319 43-16
German led a striking attack above a difficult hill, surprising their opponents who expected them on the nearby plain. The Granadine however managed to defeat the german heavy cavalry and could contain the attack.
Thanks to mh5064 for this nice melee

eric defeated tyronec
63-59
I was in the lead for most of the game but TC's numbers and shooting was closing the gap to the point where at the end if he passed the one test and I failed all of mine, he'd win. Luckily for me he failed his, a LF of mine passed and evaded. A draw would have been a fair result but against TC, a victory is OK:) Phewee.

Kerait - Scots (Isles and Highlands) 1050-1319 AD and Norwegian 1155-1399 AD allies - beats paulmcneil - Danish 1200-1319 AD and Baltic Tribes 1050-1283 AD allies 60-48
Close, interesting game. The Scots were overwhelmingly heavy foot only supplemented by a couple of knights and crossbowmen, whereas the Danes had a substantial force of knights. The battle basically consisted of a race between the Danish knights, rushing to swing around a patch of rough ground and crush the Scots from the flank, and the Scots foot, who were charging forward to destroy the numerically inferior Danish foot. The Scots who peeled off to defend against the knights seriously suffered on the open ground but the annihilation of the Danish foot and the loss of a few Danish knights who got bogged down in the mass of Scots infantry was enough to eke out a Scots victory. The Danes had a large number of light archers who were confined to the limited, albeit significant, ability to whittle down the few Scots knights. Perhaps this points investment disadvantaged the Danes, but another factor that was very important was the generous portion of rallying fleeing units that the Scots enjoyed towards the end.
Thanks to paulmcneil for the game!

Kerait - Scots (Isles and Highlands) 1050-1319 AD and Norwegian 1155-1319 AD allies - beats Bagatrix1805 - German (Imperial) 1200-1319 AD and Free Canton 1200-1319 AD allies 42-4
The Scots deployed behind a field of largely rough terrain, a rough hill, and a body of woods. This meant that the force of German knights mostly milled impotently around the woods while highlanders roughed up the German foot who dared venture into and beyond the rough. The highlanders' impact really earned its keep here.
Good game to Bagatrix1805!

angusosborne Tuareg 950-1500 AD
defeats
Bagatrix1805 German Imp1200-1319 with free Canton
62:41
Quite a tricky battlefield with a waterway on one flank a partially wooded hill on the German right and a difficult hill and some rough going in the German centre. For another army it would have been a strong defensive position, but it didn't suit the German heavy foot. Usually a Tuareg game is quick, but this one was a slog fought largely in difficult going. Tuareg foot eventually won a war of attrition and blew two big holes in the centre either side of a dismounted men-at-arms general who was never troubled.

Najanaja (Ancient British) defeated Bagatrix1805 (Dacian) 57-31.
The Dacian lancers turned a flank almost immediately and things were looking grim for the Brits.
Fortunately, while the lancers were pursuing the hairy chaps, the chariots manged to sneak around behind the lines and saved the day. Good game!
