Good fortune favoured the Arabs who were able to push a powerful force into the enemy centre amongst a number of small open hills whilst detached cavalry and medium infantry on the wings tied down their opposition. The mediums had mixed fortunes with their best units faltering against a determined defence of steep cliffs but this was offset by the success of the cavalry in helping the decisive central attack overcome the mounted and dismounted lancers of the Normans. Good game, thanks Don.

Bruising encounter which was very even until I pulled clear in the last couple of turns. Random & I have some great battles and this was another one of them.

there was a river cutting the battlefield in his middle , the lights murabits manage to flank heavy marinid infantry in the river in a decisive turn

Div B

Karvon’s Minoans defeated ulysisgrunt’s Hittites 61-53.

Both sides initially deployed on and around hills. We sent forward a swarm of light foot to lure the Hittites forward. They obliged, with the chariots sweeping ahead of their lumbering foot. We retired a bit shooting as we went, but many of our skirmishers seemed to suffer from hangovers from too much drink the night before and got caught and run down despite attempting to keep a prudent distance. The upside was the Hittite chariots were drawn even farther from their supporting infantry and our heavy chariots pitched into them after the surviving skirmishers unleashed a final volley or two in support. Our own spearmen moved up and took some of the Hittite chariots in the flank. A massive scrum developed. The Hittite massed bow and mixed medium foot came up and joined the fray. Both sides saw units flanked and broken in the wild melee. The superior number of heavy chariots and the more steady heavy foot on the Minoans proved the difference and the Hittites finally gave way to the cascading losses in the end.

A large stream in the middle of the battlefield delayed the fearsome Keil pikes in the center and allowed the dismounted knights of the Order to hold the line behind the bank till missile troops on the right and knights and light horses on the left had prevailed.

Thanks to my opponent for a far more balanced game than the final result says.
