Me either ..... And I can't quite figure it out.
(From someone who doesn't use steam) What does steam offer, that is so effective that guys won't purchase a game unless steam distributes it. And the key term is "DISTRIBUTE" Because as far as I can tell all steam does is distribute game code packages along with their future upgrade packages.
Steam server download + patch distribution --- internet --- Computer for install
Slitherine\Matrix server download + patch distribution --- internet --- Computer for install
The mechanisms for end-user activation are the same, with steam managing an additional repository for backups -- But I registered my purchase here at the forum's backup repository so there no real advantage there either.
The only difference I can discern, is that in one case I have to install a steam client and in the other, no third-party clients are necessary.
What am I missing????
