Re: TDC IV - Imperial 25BC-600AD Challenge Thread

Post by xxCLASHxx »

Thank you so much for your advice, I have developed my strategy over the tournament and indeed look to win the flanks, the issue I have is the low number of close fighters which means I have to load up on the brittle archers, they pack a punch but even backing them up only gives them a couple of rounds of missiles before melee units close and then they are just fodder. I was unaware of the factors you just pointed out and will look closer at my set up. I’ve won 3 out of five so far and you are the best player I have come up against. Thank you for the info I am learning fast.

xxCLASHxx Indian 320-545AD was victorious verses DirtyMark Roman 285-312AD w Frankish 260-495AD allies

score 57 - 49 = 65 - 49

Thank you to Mark for a very close game.

The Romans were very strong but the phalanxes were deadly and Indian infantry were scattered far and wide, it looked as though the Romans would be victorious but the flanks were exposed and the archers did good work. It remained a seesaw battle but the eles and cav were mobile enough to turn the battle towards the Indians on the flanks and the phalanxes were just too slow to catch them. DirtyMark used phalanx squares to really good effect and this kept his phalanx units in good order when they were isolated pretty much went down to the last turn.
Hi Both

The final score is 57 - 49

Hi there, sorry if I made a mistake but would you mind explaining the score so I understand what I did wrong and therefore avoid it in the future, the graphic is not much help for me.

Thank you

Div D

xxCLASHxx Indian 500BC to 319ad beat linko Indo-Greek 175BC - 10 AD with Indian allies.

Score was 52 - 22

I managed to get my eles and lancers into the two flanks and after a really difficult melee I managed to come out on top, was a really interesting game where Linko didn't quite get his eles into the fray in time.

Thanks for the game.

Division B

tmac11 Macedonian 328 - 321 defeated random27 Etruscan 330 BC with samnite allies 44 -15

A victory for the phalanx, an attempted flank attack by Samnite medium infantry was basically destroyed by a combined force of elephants and a pike phalanx supported by some Greek mercenarys, this allowed the main group of phalanxes to hold and then destroy the greek infantry in the centre.

GG thanks

Division C

Ironclad ( Carthaginian 235-146 BC with Spanish Iberian allies) defeated alexmike1(Seleucid 302-301 BC with Lysimachid allies) 60-53

Thanks to alexmike1 for a good hard fought battle. Both left flanks were successful, leading to a intense fight for the centre where the Carthaginians were able to feed in just enough reinforcements including elephants to overcome tough opposition from the Seleucids whose pike formations proved especially formidable.

Division C

Alexmike1 Seleucid 301-302BC with Lysimachid allies beat ulysisgrunt Lysimachid with Seleucid allies 60-36.

Almost mirror image armies. The larger Seleucid phalanx defeated that of the Lysimachids and was probably the decisive factor. Thanks for the game.
