panzercorps on mac?
is there plans to put panzercorps on mac in the future? ..i'm a pc user atm ..but thinking of doing the dreaded change for musical recording purposes,.. ..was just wondering....?

Re: panzercorps on mac?
Nothing announced
. Shame, because I'm sure a lot of the code from the iPad version would work fine on the Mac, and I really want to see this game on something bigger than 10"!

The team is engaged in other missions currently. It's something we'd like to do, but generally OSX versions provide much lower sales and so we need to keep them focused on the tasks which give the most bang for buck. But it's on our wishlist!

Re: panzercorps on mac?
Is this based on Slitherine's other Mac games? While I'm sure sales would be less, wouldn't development costs be less too? I'm sure there'd be a lot of commonality with the iPad version in terms of lines of code.pipfromslitherine wrote:The team is engaged in other missions currently. Unfortunately different SKUs are more than just code, it adds to the scale of testing, updates, support, etc. All this has to be taken into account when we decide where to spend our scant development resources.

Get a Virtual Drive program and load Windows onto it. Then, install PzC onto the virtual drive.
A good, free program to check out is 'VMware'. It supports Windows 8 as well as the older ones, and can run [install] using your Windows disc.

I have Windows 7 installed on a bootcamp partition, with that i'm running panzer corps without any problems.

Re: panzercorps on mac?
sorry .. it wouldn't enter,..and then came up 3 times haha!
..the plus side to making a mac version, is the sort of people who own macs , are the type who would play this game ..that's cos they have extra time on hand, and that's because they don't spend hours having to fix pc bugs!! and for recording music? ..protools , cubase, or logic? ..no brainer! and slitherine already have made the game,...so although a bit of extra time/resources would be needed, the amount of good games (especially strategy) on a mac is hugely deficient,..so you'd be onto a winner (and 'ahem!' ..you'd be making me happy

This strategy involves buying emulation software or rebooting for every use, as well as buying Windows (not cheap) or pirating it. Plus re-buying the game of course. It's the third point that I'm hung up on- I'd gladly pay again to get a Mac version of the game, but I don't want to pay for the hassle of running it in a Windows emulator. No thanks.BiteNibbleChomp wrote:Get a Virtual Drive program and load Windows onto it. Then, install PzC onto the virtual drive.

Why would you have to re-buy the game?

Re: panzercorps on mac?
As a long time player of Panzer General and the PG Forever version I finally decided to try Panzer Corps on my Mac (recently migrated from PC). Sadly I discovered the iPad version won't run on my Mac
and there isn't even a version for the XBox 360. I felt compelled to download Legends on the XBox 360 before I ditched Slitherine and what a pleasant experience, just like playing a crossover between the old PC version of Close Combat and Panzer General. I understand the issues with recoding the game from iPad to Mac but please, please put a 360 version of Panzer Corps together, there is next to nothing for strategy war gamers on the 360. And $60 is not an issue for so many of us.

Because buying the iPad version does not give you access to the PC game.smashtheaxis wrote:Why would you have to re-buy the game?

Re: panzercorps on mac?
well i've got my mac now ..so i suppose i'll have to wait ..a couple of things to consider when doing a mac panzercorps
..1. random map generator ..you finally have worked out how to do it for battle academy ..how about panzercorps!
..2.full choice of buying your own side..limited only by funds and year,
..3. the ability to buy fortifications or mines/pillboxes etc at cost ..squad leader did it on cardboard in the 80's ..how come in 2014,..that can't be implemented onto computer!?
..4. how about music that's cool ..c+c did it in the early 90's ..can no one actually put in a decent loop of 30's to 40's tracks?? say 50 on shuffle.. instead of the dreary doom laden 'orchestral designed on keyboard' aaarrggh ! where's the music off button' stuff we get at the moment!
5. more multi player maps ..or at least more mutiplayer EVERYTHING! ..it's the games best feature! give it that old slitherine support that this masterpiece of a game deserves. (that's if it really is above and beyond ability to provide a random map generator!) anyone else feel this? or is it just me huffing and puffing?
finally, your extra resourcing to transfer to mac version could be included in a costlier mac version price! ..i know that seems unfair to the mac user,..but macs are about 3 times the price of a normal pc ..i'm sure most mac users would happily pay a little more (extra£10) for a decent game.. the lack of decent games is probably a contributing factor to what's putting all the pc guys off going for a mac..NOT the price.
and ultra finally ; your game is awesome ..not many games that i've played continously for years on .. very much appreciated

Re: panzercorps on mac?
Not really. Over the years I've been compiling a list of companies from whom I will never buy anything.bones65 wrote:the lack of decent games is probably a contributing factor to what's putting all the pc guys off going for a mac..NOT the price.
Apple is pretty much at the top of my list. I believe I'm not alone in this.
Please, no discussion. I will not give my reasons or argue this any further.

Re: panzercorps on mac?
haha! i've never been keen either so i feel your pain! i lost a lot of students tunes when apple stopped supporting the formats sneakily somewhere between itunes 3 and 5 .. put me off for the last 10 or more years.. but as a pro teacher/ musician, protools is £2400 ish before you start..so i'm caught between a rock and a hard place! logic 10 is £100 ish so a mac on top is half the price haha! ..sigh! wish i had a panther icon lol!m well done for sticking to your guns guys ! .. and discussion about macs v pc well and truly closed .. cos no one's gonna argue with a 76LL lol! (i don't think anyone will get that but had to be done

Re: panzercorps on mac?
If you get to 1200 Posts, you get a Panther, and at 1300 it gets camo. Also, I agree that noone will argue with the 75mm gun. It could blast any truck, armoured car, strongpoint or lizard that has appeared. Except I can't be bothered killing you all. I'll gain a lot more from you guys downloading my mods!bones65 wrote:wish i had a panther icon lol!m well done for sticking to your guns guys ! .. and discussion about macs v pc well and truly closed .. cos no one's gonna argue with a 76LL lol!
