Assistant Producer - Hardcore Wargames

As an Assistant Producer at Slitherine, you will have the opportunity to work with a range of teams on a varied roster of internal and external hardcore wargame projects, helping to ensure their success and maintaining the quality that they have become known for. You will have the support of producers and senior producers and the opportunity to mentor you and help you progress your career towards becoming a associate producer and beyond. This is a remote position available to anyone worldwide. This is an ideal role for someone trying to break in to the industry as no prior experience is required. 

Slitherine specialize in strategy and wargames and also work with the defence industry to provide simulation and modelling software. The Assistant Producer is part of a team that is involved in the oversight of all internal projects as well as managing external projects, ensuring that all projects are planned, budgeted, tracked and any risks to delivering the projects on time are flagged.

The producer team helps the development team by dealing with their impediments, helping them to focus on and achieve the project goals and pull in all of the different stakeholders involved in the project and make sure that the right people are involved in the project at the right time. This particular Assistant Producer position will be specialized in working on historical wargames alongside our most experiences wargame producers and development teams.

With support from more senior Producers you will be responsible for:

  • QA and testing on the games to ensure Slitherine has a clear understanding of the state of the game and any issues that need to be addressed.
  • Managing external beta testers through the forums and collating their feedback for the development team, with clear and actionable reports. 
  • Supporting the Producer or Senior Producer in whatever way is needed to ensure the project stays on track and meets the desired quality level.
  • Proof reading in game text.
  • Managing localization, collecting the text for translation from the development team and dealing with external localization resources to deliver localized text on time. 
  • Championing the game internally. 


 Requirements:

  • No prior experience required. Would suit a graduate or someone trying to break into the games industry. 
  • Understanding of and strong interest in a wide range of hardcore wargames, especially computer wargames across all scales and periods.  The more wargames you have played, the better!
  • A decent grasp of military history and the principles that wargames try to model, especially with respect to the 19th and 20th centuries
  • A good fit within the studio environment, being friendly, approachable and with a professional work ethic.
  • An interest in learning project management skills and modern project management methodologies and practices.
  • Proactive and driven without need for supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure.

Salary: Based on experience but around $20k-$30k. 

Location: Remote, though the option to work out of offices in Epsom UK and Milan Italy are available.
